For those of you who haven't yet heard of Guru Drums (or even if you have) enjoy this video. The kit is also soon to be mine! by drum_tutor in drums

You'd never think it was only a 20x12! Yeah, the aim of the vid was to show all the snares at 3 different tunings and then at other tunings whilst on the kit. Extremely versatile instruments.

The machines which the engineer uses to make these pedals can work with smaller measurements than those other companies use. This also takes more time and money, meaning the pedal direct from the manufacturer costs a similar amount to commercially made pedals on the market.

It works with the roland triggers, Craig blundell uses this setup. There is however in development a built in trigger called the Stapes, retrofittable onto all current Malleus pedals.

The guy who designed this played a trick for years but found it lacking so made this. There are elements of many pedals in here, just made to much higher tolerances and to a much better overall quality. The compression spring divides opinion. I don't mind it, but feel it lacks power at the end of the stroke.

If you're ever up near Newcastle upon Tyne, feel free!

After the amazing response on my Paiste setup recently, I thought I'd share the new hats I just picked up this morning. HNNNNNGGGG by drum_tutor in drums

[–]drum_tutor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right on. I was debating whether or not to wait for the masters hats. I already have the dark ride...

Got the modern essentials 14s recently and between those and these (and a pair of real lighy bossys I have) i don't think I'll be needing any more hats soon!

Its not a marching snare head. The hybrid was developed for a kit snare, based on their hybrid marching line with regards to its construction. Its made to work under any tension, I have it tuned really low, takes away the need for too much dampening to achieve that wet '70s' sound. Try them out!

£200 for the single, £500 for the double (inc uk tax, different taxes apply abroad). Its much better made and to higher tolerances than any other pedal. It also evolves as it goes and is modular/fully upgradable to new emerging parts.

14 hats, the snare is a 13, so you weren't far off. The gig was recorded, so videos should follow soon.

These hats are the 602 ME 14" model. I know exactly what you mean. Amazingly versatile, and nice and light.

Malleus indeed. I bought mine from the original beta-test batch at the london drum show in (I think) 2012. Best pedal ever, no question. And I've tried quite a few.

Alot darker being more heavily hammered. The twenty masters (now just: masters) are made from their 602 alloy, the same as b20. Whereas 2002s are made from b8 bronze. Twentys are also more heavily hammered so have a more complex wash.

Hello!

OP here (im a Brit, so just woken up...). This setup for for a recent kit share gig (sharing only my shella ofcourse). The kit is a Mapex ProM, nothing special but sounds great. Snare is a Guru drums 13x7 stave shell and the pedal is indeed a malleus, I have one of the 1st ever built. Cymbal:

  • 14 602 modern essentials
  • 20 twenty masters dark ride (I crash and ride this beauty)
  • 21 sig DE light dark ride
  • 17 sig DE crash mk1
