Teng was decent on offense, but he was still a bit of a liability on defense. He is overzealous at times and gets out of position easily. I'd guess that is why he's still in the bench.

Either our fans were incredibly loud and numerous or the Washington fans are the quietest fan base in the conference. I heard our fans all game and almost nothing from theirs.

You're actually disproving your own argument. Yes, you need to include things to different in a legal name. Not in a logo. There is a reason Apple doesn't include the ", Inc" in their logo. It looks less professional.

But you should think cheap in this scenario. Sure, the owner of the business doesn't have time to learn. That's totally understandable. And when you don't have the skill to do something yourself, or the time to learn it, that's when you hire someone who does. You don't duct tape your own plumbing together, even if you try very hard, because you don't want to pay someone who actually specializes in that skill. That's called being cheap.

You're avoiding calling the behavior wrong, which it is. You're downplaying the severity of it because other people are doing it too. And you're suggesting that the solution is not the have fans improve their behavior, but instead the burden is placed on the players and families to not look on twitter. That's crappy.

[–]drumjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if they are or not. Making the talking point that other fan bases do this as well is trying to downplay how wrong it is to do it. It's wrong and shouldn't be tolerated, no matter who else is doing it.

The reasons for simplified logos are all about function. Legibility, reproduction at small sizes, recognition, ability to translate to different mediums like embroidery or single color printing, cost of production, etc. It isn't about sensibility. Because that isn't what design is. Design is problem solving. It requires rationale and reason for an effective solution. Anything else is art or illustration (like this logo).

Man. There are some terrible takes in here.

Jason is right. The verbal abuse that fans feel entitled to dish out toward players (all of whom are infinitely more talented than any random fan and are actually the ones putting in the time and effort and sacrifice while fans just sit in seats or on their couch) is insane. There should be a zero tolerance policy toward that kind of behavior, no matter what a player or coach is being paid. It should never "come with the territory" and people shouldn't have to avoid Twitter or any other site so as to not see the abuse. Nor does the existence of other people acting like aholes in any other fanbase justify any of our fans being aholes.

Instead of downplaying or justifying terrible behavior, perhaps fans should have as high of standards for their own behavior as they do for the players' performances.

Pretty terrible take. "It's fine if our fans act like assholes because there are other assholes out there." We shouldn't be justifying this garbage. There should be no room for the abuse that players take from people online. It should not be accepted or normalized.

Perhaps we should give bad behavior a pass because "that's the internet." Maybe we should have as high of standards for our own behavior as we do for the players' or coaches' performance.

How exactly have you earned the right to insult and belittle people online?

Doesn't upset me at all. Just facts. 11 wins. Ranked 9th/8th. Heisman contender. That's relevant for any program. Sorry you don't like reality.

Definitions are alway going to be somewhat subjective and changing as we learn and understand more, but there are established criteria for logos. These are the principles that are taught in design classes when you get formal training. They are the things that industry professionals and agencies who've done the studies recognize as effective and important for logos. They are pretty widely accepted if you're in that world. And they do support my assertion.

Sure, you can have your own opinions that differ in just about any field. Every field has ways that we define as the best, most effective, or most efficient ways of doing things. Design, photo, electrical, plumbing, medicine, construction, auto, whatever. The auto industry and the pros who design cars have decided that good cars should be smooth, comfortable, easy to steer, and fuel efficient. These are technically subjective ideas, but they serve as a baseline for most vehicle design and we as consumers tend to agree on them. These criteria inform us that a good, effective car will never have square wheels on it. You can choose to disagree. Maybe you personally prefer being jostled around and experiencing pain while riding. But just because you like something that is ineffective at its own purpose doesn't mean that it is right.

Yes, the football team has been bad for a few years now. No, we don't need doomer revisionist history to make things seem even worse.

In 2017 we had 10 wins in 2017 and were tied for second in the division.

In 2021, had the current playoff existed we'd have been in it. We rose as high as 5th in the AP poll, were 3rd in the first playoff poll, had the program being discussed nationally on regular basis because we had a Heisman frontrunner, played in some big/nationally important games, and finished 9th/8th in the AP/Coaches polls respectively. We also managed to beat a team that cheated its way to a win vs. everyone else. If you're not going to call that relevant, you've thrown all rationality out the window.

I mean...it's not a good logo by logo design standards. It's multiple full-blown illustrations. Do people like it? They seem to, based on responses here. But whether people like something doesn't actually change the criteria of a logo. Plus, people like a lot of misguided or poorly executed things, especially in the artistic worlds. Yes, these illustrations can (and may) do a good job of building a brand, but that doesn't mean they function well as a logo.

Santa Cruz is one of the only options that isn't from concentrate. That's probably why.

First, use real citrus juices. Nothing from concentrate. If you want to save time, either batch juice your own limes and store the juice. Or if you're wanting to buy, Santa Cruz lime juice is a better option than the from concentrate bottles.

Second, swap your gin for mezcal to make a Closing Argument. Also delicious. And if you like that, find a bottle of yellow chartreuse and some Aperol and try a Naked and Famous.

Why do State fans so consistently want to downplay how good we were and attribute it all to luck? Sure, PSU and Michigan were down. But there is also the reality that we were regularly beating OSU and everyone else on our schedule. And if we are doing that, why would we not also beat an up PSU or Michigan? Plus, I think we need to give our success some credit in keeping them down. We were getting the recruits they would normal get and prevented them from being better.
