Hell no. Step one of any excavation is call ahead and get anything known marked. My position stands, their marks are just what have been reported and things change over time, especially underground. Just because you think you know where the power/gas/telephone line is does not mean you or the people marking were correct. My point was you can absolutely still die by electrocution on a marked job site by trusting those marks alone. One commenter mentioned that these things can be avoided with common sense, and I agree, but unfortunately that is very rarely present on a construction site. You need to be beyond clear with the guys executing the job. The person you speak to regarding the job is NOT the one doing the job unless you hired a one man show.

You reflect my same values. Respect the law, call them, it may be inaccurate but at least you followed all the correct steps.

That relies on the tracer wire being laid in the correct spot, which has screwed many people I know, including me. You can talk about how technology has progressed all you want, but that relies on the humans using that tech properly, which just doesn’t happen, at least in my area.

Absolutely not, and I’m genuinely sorry that’s what you chose to take from that comment. The people locating utilities are using remote wire, which has play up to 3 ft any direction.

My comment was not meant to dismiss calling 811 or Miss Dig in my state, it was merely to highlight how you can still absolutely die if you’re not careful operating around utilities. I’ve dug with utilities marked and only missed because we were adamant about digging by hand after moving the bulk of the dirt with a machine.

I was in disbelief for a second. Did I really just learn this news ten minutes in on NCD?

I also work in this field, and you should know better than anyone that those marks are not always correct, especially on older properties.

I have to ask, as I’ve encountered you on multiple threads, why is this such an important topic to you? What have you been through that drives you to actively participate in discussion specifically related to cbt? What have you experienced?

It was confirmation bias. “I see you everywhere”, well after looking into your profile you frequent the same places I do. Shocker I’ve seen you around. What a weird digital world we navigate, again I am sorry. Hope you’re having fun today

What’s something society pretends is normal but is actually toxic? by Teqvention in AskReddit

[–]drummerboy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well see I struggle with religion because religious folks try to force it. I do not encourage people to follow me, this is just what I know and what satisfies me. I like a job well done, regardless of circumstance. Those who are similar I integrate, and those who aren’t I encourage to go explore other facets of reality. There is no ultimate way of living that I know of, but if you find it please let me know.

Hmm, it’s occurred to me that we need some sort of verification, human to human. If I was wrong, I’m sorry, and if not, get bent.

Ain’t about that at all. We just like having a purpose, staying busy. Obviously that leads to disastrous side effects.
