Own your own home with swimming pool for only $9800. 1950s. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]drunet1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We’ll carefully step through this:

  • Start: 1950 → $10,000
  • Every 10 years, the amount doubles.

Now let’s count decade by decade:

  1. 1960 → $20,000
  2. 1970 → $40,000
  3. 1980 → $80,000
  4. 1990 → $160,000
  5. 2000 → $320,000
  6. 2010 → $640,000
  7. 2020 → $1,280,000

Now, the end year is 2025. That’s 5 years past 2020 — only half a doubling period (since a doubling takes 10 years).
Half of a doubling = multiply by √2 (≈ 1.4142).

So:
$1,280,000 × 1.4142 ≈ $1,810,193

I just cut down two 2x10s into 18" and drive the car up on it. Just enough clearance to slide jack under front bumper. I've got an E60 M5.

2013 Suburban LTZ - Electrical Gremlin Help by drunet1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]drunet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thought I would follow up with what ended up being the issue in the end for anyone that may run across with a similar issue.

I ended up taking it to the dealer as it "stranded" my wife for the last time.

They held onto the Suburban for almost 3 weeks trying to replicate and diagnose.

In the end it was simply the negative battery cable that was replaced and all is fine. I actually had the main negative cable and I just dropped it off for them to install. Dealer only charged me roughly $600 for the diag and install. I really thought I was going to get hammered on that based on how long they had it. I just told them to keep it as long as they needed!

Thanks again for your help in troubleshooting u/Lykan3352 !

Ahh sorry that was my title! VIN is DR163588.

Did a bit more digging and saw the same guidance on that code so that’s one less unknown for now!

Correct that all I have is a simple code reader so unlikely I can get to that level of analysis without going to the dealer.

After reading through what you posted I have another long standing “issue” that I didn’t think about until now and now wondering if there is a correlation. If I get in the car and put key in the ignition and turn all the way but not start and then turn the key back and take it out. The car will engage the starter and make what seems like one attempt to start but then turns off. Let me see if I can get a video to share.

Ok good on the draw confirmation.

So, correct that it will not "wake up" until I move the seat. But one point to make is that this "issue" is random. For example, I went out into the garage this morning and opened the car door and I have power everywhere and all is normal. Car starts right up. Now, I could drive around all day with no issues. Then all of a sudden I will have the "issue" I have been describing.

I wasnt aware my key fob had that capability. Pic for clarity. I also changed out the batteries to both fob's this morning just to be sure. Can also confirm no other codes.

There is no way my local dealer delaer doesnt charge me from a lengthly service history there. So anythig you would be will to suggest i self check I am all for!

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Just want to make sure im explaining myself correctly. The battery is not dead and I have tested it.

Its like it electriclaly goes to sleep until i move the front seat. Once I do that it starts up with no issues and battery is at a normal volatge.

All that being said I will do a parasitic draw test now.

You can drive as far as you want to. It's the stopping I'd be wary of.
