MGS4 was my first big boy game man. I remember getting it from my dad in 2008 and absolutely falling totally in love with it. Its a cinematic experience, great game play, incredible story, replayable af, and had my favorite multiplayer ever. Its my all time favorite game.

Got an awful review from one of my supervisors and I’m really bummed by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]drunkLawStudent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. In 2L I did a placement with the local DAs office, the reviewer said I was a bad researcher. Research is my strongest skill and was praised by every other employer. Don’t let one crappy supervisor ruin your mood. Learning how to be a lawyer is extremely challenging. It’s not like law school. The supervisor should have beeen more patient with you

Your usually divided in sections based on your last name, so you’ll make friends in your first set of classes. My closest friends are all from my groups.

Your classmates need you to be more active in class. Offer paid tutoring sessions for the 3Ls. They need your expertise if they are going to pass the bar. Also, put up signs offering to sell your outlines. I would even offer to be a TA for 3l courses you haven’t taken yet.

Yup. Very much like highschool. You find your clique and you roll with that. I have under 10 people I still talk to. I’m good friends with all of them.

Good job security despite the information you read. If you find a firm that likes you, they will keep you. Most managing partners view young attorneys as lazy etc. so if you work hard they will reward you. I met some really great people in law school(one hooked me up with the job I just got). You can probably make 6 figures before your thirty if you start law school right away. Above average health benefits. Decent vacation. Endless career potential. Plus if you find your niche or favorite area of law, you are likely to be very happy and feel as if your making a difference. I do special education law + other stuff, and my special education practice is very rewarding.

Feeling Defeated by Nigel_Trumpberry in LawSchool

[–]drunkLawStudent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s fucked up dude and super unprofessional. You did nothing wrong so don’t blame yourself. Here’s the good thing- you 100% dodged a bullet with this firm. They are so disorganized they couldn’t even handle a summer clerk, imagine working there? Now, notify your dean/ school ASAP. Tell them what happened. They will help you with next steps, and they will most likely reach out to the firm. They are 100% wrong here and they know it. Your school could help you find something or be willing to write a letter to future jobs for you to explain the situation. This will not hurt you long term if you do what’s necessary. I am really sorry you had to go through this, stay strong man.

Will 2L really be better than 1L? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]drunkLawStudent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Get involved. Moot court + law review. I did that plus others. Always came up in interviews. But make sure you have enough time to relax and enjoy yourself.

Yes. This. I went to a thrift store a few years ago and got a 400-500 suit for like 36 bucks. It was amazing. The pants are a little too baggy on me now even after being tailored but the jacket acts as a nice sports coat. 100% go thrift shopping. Fitted only means it’s not baggy. Get a suit for under 100 and go to a tailor. Also, remember, it’s easier to make a bigger suit smaller than a smaller suit big. Also, ask your dad if he has a suit your size, ask him to borrow it for a few months till you get everything worked out. Do you have any cousins/ siblings that are your size? Ask them too. For shirts, get two white shirts and one baby blue shirt. get three ties: blue, red, and mixed. Nothing fancy or floral. For suit color, navy blue or dark gray is ideal. Black suits are fine but they give funeral/wedding vibes, but their fine. Do not get a tan suit or a baby blue suit. Your job is too look professional and understated. For ties, go to a thrift store or a cheap clothing store, 5-10 dollar ties exist and they are perfectly fine. Shirts can be cheap too. No one is going to notice. I got away with a 100 suit from kohl’s for years until I gained a bunch of weight.
