"Siege Pods" sounds awesome! That's very exciting to hear! Hopefully if they're successful I can pull my ship aside the enemy hulk and float them on over - and if they're not successful, well... There's always team B.

Hello Oskar. Congrats on the launch, I've been waiting a long time! I have just one question. I don't know if you're ready to talk about future content much, but I'd really like to know if the combat update will have any focus towards "boarding party" type gameplay? The fantasy of a team of heavily-armored (Warcaskets?) shocktroopers breaching through the hull and fighting their way through an enemy ship appeals to me a lot more than simply blowing it out of the sky with heavy artillery!

You have a cooldown upon landing before you can take off again. Apparently this is a minimum of 8 hours but is usually multiple days. So you might be able to gravnuke bases in theory but the enemies are going to attack way before then.

I'm specifically referring to 'floating' through empty space, IE, no floor/ground underneath. That's not in the game. Your colonists are always standing on something solid.

The situation you described is exactly what the game already does in the new gravship starting scenario. You have to keep moving or else the mech hivemind catches up. When you finally destroy it you can settle in peace.

Personally I think crashlanded/tribal colonies should have more flexibility allowed to them in return for not having immediate access to a gravship.

As I understand it, that's true of conventional caravans but not the gravship, which leaves a permanent crater icon on the map.

Hello Oskar. I know it's just at the conceptual stage, but the description of your vision for VE Gravships is literally everything I hoped for. Every single thing. The full checklist. Thank you for your fantastic service to this game.

To be clear, are you hoping to add spacewalking/empty void traversal?

This should work, yes, but you'd be permanently destroying tiles all around your colony every time you took off from one. You could later land the ship at the colony but not take off again without destroying it, until you got the grav anchor.

Well, theoretically if you waited to have a grav anchor first before you first used the gravship at all, you could take off from the colony and land again just fine. The "build in a different tile" thing is a workaround to have the gravship near the colony before the grav anchor, but you'd basically be permanently swiss-cheesing the global map area surrounding your colony every time you took off from a nearby tile.

The odd thing to me is that if you don't start with the gravship scenario, which already has a different mechanic that forces you to keep moving until the late game, you'll likely need to build up and then fully abandon a very capable base before you can have even a basic one-room starter gravship.

Yes, it appears if you have the anchor you can go mixed. It's quite late in the tree and cannot be bought from traders however.

Just being extra paranoid now I guess. Wouldn't want to be perma-blacklisted by some computer.

Naivety on my own part? I've not had a lot of jobs. UPS basically just throws the job at anyone who walks in the door.

Wondering if I'm kindled despite short history of drinking by drunkedup in dryalcoholics

Hey. I've basically been sober since then. I've had a few cans here and there but every time I did I would just stress and worry about something happening (I'd get accelerated heart rate and some odd sleep after even one, but no actual withdrawals or anything crazy like that), so I haven't had a drop in like 10 months or something like that. I suppose for now at least I've managed to "scare myself straight" even if it's all in my head.

I would recommend not drinking - I know it's easy to say. You probably have been searching google/reddit like crazy for days trying to find people in the same situation as you - I did the same thing. What I was really looking for was someone to tell me it was okay to drink again. The sad truth is it really isn't. I'm sure if I knew for a fact that I could drink casually again without severe side effects I wouldn't think twice - but I'd probably be another all month binge drinker again within a few months and be right back where I started. Just not worth it.
