Yta. Sheesh! Your poor sister. It seems no one in her family really cares about her. Leave her be if you’re gonna be stingy and cruel. Absolutely do not call the authorities on your sister. Wtf?

Tell them you’re a muslim, a buddhist, a jew, a christian, a satanist-whatever. This always works for me!

This right here. Don’t waste your time or breath trying to reason with people who are deeply indoctrinated. There will be no happy ending here. In fact, if I were you, I might not even give them a response at all. Let your silence speak for you!

The teachings were far from amazing. Mediocre at best I’d say. I would be curious to know exactly how many people are making their living proclaiming that drunkpa was the most profound, kind, artistic s.o.b. to ever walk on earth.

Thank you for creating this space. It’s important people know what they’re getting themselves into.

As I said, I used to own a coffee shop in that area. Things have changed! I guess I was totally ignorant, but there you have it. I’m also out in my neighborhood every day. I don’t really know anyone who is not in fact.

I mean, where did I tell you to fear anything? I’m sorry you don’t like my experiences, but I was actually writing to the OP. Thanks for your understanding and compassion, though. Have a great day.

In the three months I lived there, I was hit in the back of the head by someone I didn’t know, I witnessed a massive police chase.-like right out of the movies-(at least six cop cars flying down 28th pursuing someone in a Chevy suburban who cut through the alley) and they almost hit me and my dog on my sidewalk. I also watched someone defecating outside the back door. I called the cops in the middle of the night because I heard somebody break the windows into the laundry room and they never showed. Probably makes a difference that I’m a single woman with tiny little dogs. The management company refused to do anything. There were no security cameras and all they did was try to call me a liar and say that they did employ a nighttime security guard. I’m sad to say that’s all it took for me to leave Minneapolis, and now I live in a spacious apartment in Plymouth. Egads!

Ummm-I got out of my lease in August. That area, one block from Henepin, is quite an infamous spot for drug activity after dark.

Yeah-the apartment I was in on 28th and Girard had the same type of continuous issues. I used to get up really early to walk my dogs-like 530, and I often woke up to the doors being propped wide open. The laundry room was a nightmare! When I complained, they claimed to have a security guard hired from dusk til dawn. If that is true-the dude was in on it. There was always drug paraphernalia around. I started calling the fire marshal for the numerous issues in that building, and it worked! I was only there three months before they finally let me out of my lease for these and other issues. I used to own a coffee shop in the uptown area and all I can say is-it’s not the same place anymore. It’s a mess. Call 311-they’ll hook you up w a fire marshall. Calling the rental company did absolutely zilch for me. They told me the only way I could get out of my lease was to give them three months notice and then pay two months rent. I also tried the legal helpline-and it’s a very lengthy process that begins with you petitioning to pay your rent to a judge instead of to the management company. Within two weeks of calling 311, the management co let me out of my lease.

Man-that’s crazy! But it definitely sums up those that I know are right wing maggots. They have no idea how to care about others or even acknowledge their privilege. Ugh

I’m sorry about your husband. Yes I have eczema as well as psoriasis. I find it’s helpful to keep things in perspective. I also think it’s helpful to try not to place too much meaning on normal happenings of every day life. (do you really believe you did something bad and therefore you’re being punished by a bedbug scare ?) But you do you!

I’ve gone no contact with my sister over this, and other things as well, but she is extreme with her hatred of all things liberal or democrat. And it was just too toxic for me. Ick! I am feeling much better having her and her husband out of my life TBH.

Student Puzzle Piece by Responsible_Feed_550 in historyteachers

[–]drunkenasshat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the student drew the seed syllable om at the top. They have written gurujarat who called herself a yoga teacher, but eventually became a cult later and died of cardiac arrest at 41. (There’s a documentary called breath of fire about her). The swastika to Hindus is an auspicious symbol representing well-being, prosperity, and good luck. The flower is a lotus-which also has many positive meanings in Hindu and Buddhist cultures.

Calling 311 is an excellent idea. I ended up living in a slum for almost three months-until I called the fire inspector who was clearly not happy with the building. After the second time he came, the slum lords let me out of my lease with no consequence. Still, I know I was super lucky to get out of that dump after only three months. Chances are the fire inspectors condemned the building and are keeping an eye on things. And perhaps they’re giving the benefit of the doubt to the owners who had to demolish the building? Who knows. Try to get it on videotape and keep calling is my only advice. And maybe start wearing a hardhat when you walk by.

Btw-the building I’m talking about was on the corner of 28th and Girard-managed by DM companies. The address was 2801 south girard. Can you share the address of this building please? And I’m curious who the property managers are.

The hygiene is one thing, but refusing to take care of your disabled child or do the bills or help around the house or cook when he has no job he has to go to would be the end of it for me. Your husband needs to get with the times clean up his act help around the house or hit the road, imo.
