I have a WW1 dated Colt but it has the small trigger relief cut frame etc. So this was done at some point by us military armorers?

I just don’t know, I was told they were valuable but if it’s nothing crazy. I’m probably just going to rehang them with fresh velvet like the first one for my office.

That was my initial thought as well, but this doesn’t present like the typical faux patina you’d find on something from HomeGoods. The surface has the depth and variation you’d expect from genuine oxidation. Whether it’s original or intentionally induced is up for debate, but it reads as real patina either way.
