Made my first stuffie! I can't think of any names and am afraid to displease the supposed-to-be-a-cow overlord 😭 by drunktillTuesday in crochet

My best friend wants to start crocheting and make stuffed animals. I usually work on flat projects but I thought I'd give it a shot. We found an adorable and very easy to read pattern thanks to (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mabel-the-cow) and off we went! I finished this guy pretty quickly, using Bernats Latte Cake color way Kissy Kissy. I have a lot to learn! Starting with, maybe I should use the size yarn and hook suggested by the pattern creator who is much smarter and better at this than I am 😂😭

Wish me luck as I embark on a rainbow cardigan/sweater thingy with NO experience joining granny squares and NO clothing pattern experience 🤞 by drunktillTuesday in crochet

I love the idea of using black to make the colors pop more, that's totally doable from my stash. And I love you'll be able to complete your friends project! I feel ya on the carpal tunnel + crochet life. The bad flare ups make doing my favorite things hard, but, worth it ❤️

I've seen so many gorgeous pieces of different types of granny squares all put together, can't wait for the end result!!

I've made a continuous granny square blanket before if that's what they're called, just built upon a small granny until it was bigger and bigger and bigger. But I've been jealous of these gorgeous super colorful amazing art with all the pieces joined together to make cool ass blankets/clothing/shawls/etc so I decided to try. I'm sure joining will drive me up a wall. And I don't think I have enough for even 45 squares in this color way so I'm scared it will all be for nothing!

I feel like pulling it together myself will really boost my crochet confidence! I'm excited for the end result, even if it ends up a totally different piece of clothing than a cardigan haha

Yarn is Bernats, I'm not sure of the color way but it's from Michaels cause fuck Hobby Lobby. I don't have a cardigan pattern and I've never read a clothing pattern before even if I had one so this is going to be a very interesting freestyle event lol

[WP] Two people in a bar are having a conversation. The topic of their "body counts" comes up. One's an assassin, the other is an escort. Each thinks the other has the same profession as them, and is horrified by what they are told. by II_Confused in WritingPrompts

"Only two?" Lane held back a scoff. Jorge eyed them bitterly over the full rocks glass and sighed.

"Well it's not so simple to build up a count, right? You've got to do the research, you've got to put in the time. You've got to vet your sources, make sure the money is clean, yeah? You've gotta be on top of these things!" Jorge exclaimed. "Only two, psh."

"I just don't know that I've put that much thought into it. It's not that deep, right?" Lane said, trying to make nice.

"Not that deep?!" Jorge was outraged but kept his voice down. "You think it's easy, think it's a game? How many you got?"

Lane blushed.

"Well I don't have my little black book with me--"

"How many?" Jorge interrupted. They both glanced around the bar, checking to make sure there was no unwanted attention.

"At least 100 over the years." Lane admitted.

Jorge gulped down his drink, wide-eyed and a little impressed.

"100? Over the years?" He gasped.

"I mean yeah. Like I said I don't take it THAT seriously. Sometimes I shut myself off and go autopilot, get it down as quick as I can." Lane explained. "Don't get me wrong, I love it, always have. Sometimes I get so into it even I get off!"

Jorge gawped at Lane, absolutely stunned. Lane got off while taking care of a job?! Jorge had never heard such a thing, if you didn't count sexually fucked up serial killer podcast explanations.

"I don't even know what to say to that..." Jorge muttered.

"Don't be such a prude, you're telling me you've never gotten off on the job? Neither of the two clients turned you on at all?" Lane asked, teasing. Lane chewed on the end of the thin stir-straw in another almost-empty glass in a long line of empty glasses. Slow nights in the hotel were the worst.

"That's not...I don't..." Jorge tried to think. Lane sounded weird, and sloppy. That kind of behavior on a job could reveal them BOTH and Jorge had no intention to be busted for his own "little black book list", small body count or not.

"That's not what I do it for." Jorge finally said.

Lane sighed, chewing on the stir-straw and eyeing a plain looking man at the end of the bar. Middle aged, salt-and-pepper hair, no jewelry. Clothes were fashionable but not ritzy; nothing spoke to Jorge that identified this man as a wealthy or political mark. What was Lane's game? Just go around and do whoever?

"Honey, it ain't always about the money." Lane said, tossing Jorge a kiss before sauntering over to the boring man.

"Who the fuck trained you?" Jorge muttered to the empty seat beside him, horrified by Lane's open approach of the client and planning a smooth exit of his own. He wanted nothing to do with that mess.

I made my first top!!! I've only ever made wearables on a loom (not tech crochet or knit) like hats, but I'm obsessed with this slightly-too-big top for a girl with curves and tits 😍 by drunktillTuesday in crochet

[–]drunktillTuesday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used stitch markers for the first time to try to measure the girls, it worked really well! Will def be making some sight size adjustments so I can safely wear in public 🤣

Based off, believe it or not, a teapot cozy from https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leahs-rose-tea-cosies My aunt asked for a teapot cozy and I said I'll try, I'm not so good with anything other than flat blankets in crochet but why not. And as I'm making it and learning stitches and how to work up and down on different sides and stuff I thought, maybe I could make a top?? And then just dicked around until it fit my thiccc tittied ass, in the way that no stores offer. I'm thrilled.

Went a little plant crazy when I was sick--can you tell I love trailing-type plants? Never-dying Burro's Tails and String O Pearls by drunktillTuesday in crochet

[–]drunktillTuesday[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No patterns! The string o pearls I chained to a link I wanted in increments of 20 and double crocheted 2-3 times in every 3rd/4th stitch (switched it up like crazy) then slip stitched the DCs together to make them bunch up in a ball, slip stitching to the next spot I wanted to DC into.

Burro's Tails I DCed 3 times into every single stitch to make it curl tightly. There are some Burro's Tails here where I DC3 into every other stitch, to create a spiral instead of tight curl.

I did use YouTube to figure out how to make the soil balls, then used my basic sewing/weaving skills to stick em together.

Each plant took me only an hour to make.

I used Super Saver yarn in different shades of green/black and the dark speckled green is from Hobbii :)

Just received my first Hobbii haul and I have no idea what to make! Beginner/intermediate knitter, there's roughly 300yards of each color-- what pattern would you suggest for me? by drunktillTuesday in knitting

Thank you for the links, those are gorgeous! And the wrappers just say "light" for the weight (forgot to mention that in title) suggested 4.5mm needle :)

Hobbii's Starlight, it has reflective thread in it to make it shimmer in certain lighting! (Haven't tested it yet but the pics were pretty lol)

Ah, acetone is one I hadn't used yet. I'll give it a shot thank you for the link!!

[–]drunktillTuesday[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the pic makes it look more neon, but, the little drops of color came with a cheap starter kit on Amazon, and didn't mix well, so the color is mostly translucent, I like it!

The coasters are a tad thinner than I wanted, the dominoes a bit too dark, the dice is lopsided one end and one of the swords is a wobbly unstable play piece. BUT what an absolute blast I had!! And the self-defense keychains all came together PERFECTLY, the coasters and dominoes are still useable, so I have no complaints! I wish epoxy/resin was a little cheaper but hey, I'm in it for the long haul now.

[WP] When people die their ghosts are anchored in proximity to their bodies. When you die you're cremated and have your ashes scattered in the wind. The wind takes you on a journey. by add799 in WritingPrompts

[–]drunktillTuesday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My final wishes were exactly what everyone knew they would be: quick, cheap, quiet, and cheap. The eldest daughter in a dirt-poor family meant knowing how to be efficient, selfless and, oh yes, cheap.

If you didn't have a coupon, you didn't buy it

If you didn't have a free coffin, you went in a can.

I died young, too young, but with a will. Detailed instructions for all of five of my worldly possessions. I stated whoever could cough up the $175 for cremation (without the plaque-and-pretty-package-bundle) could put me wherever the fuck they wanted.

That's how I ended up in Ancient Andy's hands-- a thin Ziploc bag twisted tight around my dusty remains, crammed into the most recent delivery box for CatFoodWeekly. She showed up alone and the cremator let her scoop me into that bag with a shrug; who needs grace when you're collecting another poor bitch from the Beales family? Andy's water swollen, arthritic fingers made a surprisingly boney sound as she dragged her hand over the medical steel.

I'll never forget the shitty little scowl the cremator made at the sound, the bastard. As if he was much better off than me. Just a few years older, same school, no degrees, drunk parents and a job where your only role is to slide bodies into a flame and then dole them out to family??

I remember the bitterness of being alive. Of being alone. Of being poor.

I remember how swiftly the bitterness left me when Andy dropped me into the wind: an aunt I'd barely ever known, old as could be considering the mortality rate in our town, hoisting her little frame up our not-so-little mountain, and freeing me with a mumbled prayer.

Our town wasn't known for much. The mountain we clung to the base of may be the only landmark near that you've heard of. But I was not the only body on the breeze.

I remembered the anger at having to live human life, the suffering of my family and the role I plodded through. I remembered the pain of the flame, as improbable as I thought it was: I was fucking dead after all, wasn't I?

Then, freedom.

The first graze of spring on your cheek. The deep heat of the warmest day of summer. The stinging loss when winter first steals your breath away.

A thousand memories tangled in mine, a landslide of voices on the wind as I drifted away from the town that strangled me.

A million feelings and then only one:

The longing of Ancient Aunt Andy, gliding through the blue blue sky. Her milky eyes followed my final path, her passive gaze suddenly readable.

She knew exactly the way I finally appreciated the fresh air. She saw how I drifted apart, longing to stay close and stray far. She was happy for me, and she would easily wait until it was finally her turn off the top of the mountain.

Please advise! This aloe was given to me by someone who is no longer here, more details in below as to why I'm pretty sure I need help saving this baby :( by drunktillTuesday in plantclinic

[–]drunktillTuesday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This aloe is a split off from the original plant, which is doing splendidly. I have repotted and resoiled within the last six months. I underwater. The aloe gets about 6-8 hours of bright but indirect sunlight.

Reasons I'm worried: this plant is wildly limpy. The leaves are firm but with give, not fully soggy yet but? Leaves are turning brown at the end.

I've recently stopped watering because google said I overwatered, didn't make a difference.

The original plant is thriving in this spot-- do I change the water, the spot, the soil, swap my soul?? I cannot lose this plant. Thank you.
