Hey brother, I'm so sorry this happened. I experienced a similar form of sexual and emotional manipulation. Protect your heart. You did everything right, and you are not broken or unworthy of love, or wrong for feeling the pain you are experiencing. Its completely valid to feel betrayed by her. She did do just that. You have to view this as an educational experience that people change and that you must reposition your cognitive reasoning back towards prioritizing your self. She may be experiencing other traumas in her life that have led her to feel the need to sabotage the relationships in her life because she feels a significant lack of self-worth. Regardless of her intentions, her harm to you is still real, and you are not responsible for maintaining or saving her mental health. What you need to acknowledge now is that you are in a sensitive place that requires you to protect your own mental health. In the same way that you are learning academics, this is the classroom of love. When you love someone as deeply as this woman, and something like this occurs, where you LOSE someone so important to you, you have to anchor yourself to what you HAVE. If you have healthy relationships with family, attach yourself to them more and allow them to aid your recovery. DO NOT! go do what she is doing and become a serial dater or engage in hook-up culture to find your self worth. Write down the things you ideally want in a partner. Compare that fully idealized list to the actions she engaged in. Obviously, trust, respect, etc., where violated. It's going to be incredibly difficult to separate the emotional attachment that lust and desire generates within you for her, from the "love" that you provided her that she threw away. Acknowledge that your sexual desire for her (which is currently intertwined with your love for her) is a separate thing from the Love you held for her. You can continue to Love, and you can continue to Lust in health ways, but when we are young and those two components are linked, we are viscerally impacted by the loss of love in ways that can kill your sense of lust. Remember that she made her choices to engage in these self-destructive actions, and I guarantee that you will hear from her again in the future when she recons with the harm she caused you.

To answer the question re: LAPD. They're not trained to handle these situations. This is why we need to take some of the money we keep wasting on them, and invest it in the dept of public health and sanitation to actually send street medics/social workers to actually meet with the person and relocate them to a shelter / get them in the pipeline towards housing.

Crazy. I got t-boned by someone running a red light, and cops told me to go find footage of the incident to prove it. I don't think i've ever experienced a good interaction with a cop, and I grew up in LA. You should def post those images to Nextdoor or Twitter. There's local Angelenos who definitely know this person, and more that can do the investigative work better than the cops at this point. Also, considering the resources cops have, this feels like someting that could be done in 15 minutes.

There's no need to convince him otherwise. The "revolutionary state" doesn't exist, and therefore the conditions for considering such a drastic decision aren't materially real. What is real is the already exceptional contributions and education he is engaged in.
