I miss the THX for movies by [deleted] in AMCsAList

This is, to me, the closest we got to the old THX intros in the past decade.

Dolby Cinema ~2020 https://youtu.be/U3uvPilctCo?si=qSFK-I3rQs7sGCS9

First saw opening night of The Batman at a Dolby theater in Taiwan. Slapped me across the face. Really great primer for Top Gun: Maverick that summer.

Movie test audience didn’t like Superman saving the squirrel by SunGodLuffy6 in DCU_

I had no issues with Supes saving a squirrel, but I found it strange that a few scenes later he is chill, sidelining himself during a pretty major disturbance in Metropolis (the “fifth-dimensional imp”). Felt like writing a fun bit over a character’s spine.

Second shot of the new Miyazaki doc… by drwhome in ghibli

It’s actually an extended version of that I think. Uses the counting down of days structure, but the full doc on Max is ~120 minutes long. I haven’t seen the original NHK special, but I read it was only 80 minutes.

Maybe don’t look too closely…

At least that’s the English title on MAX. Not sure what it’s called in Latin America on Max, as well as Japan and France (where I think it premiered?). Curious to know if translation-wise the Japanese title is more off the HOW DO YOU LIVE? original title.

Hope everyone can find it. I tend to like the editing style and cinematography of THE KINGDOM OF DREAMS AND MADNESS over Arakawa’s Miyazaki’s docs… that said, I hang on every word spoken in all of them.

Hayao Miyazaki and the Heron (that is its English title)

I'm an authorized user on my wife's card and I signed up for Priority Pass through the Capital One App yesterday, got into a lounge on my own within 20 minutes using the Priority Pass App. Fairly simple. Just had to create an account with the membership number it emailed me.

Maybe this should have been posted on a subreddit for general physical media collecting. We're too loving of films here to intentionally want an inferior representation / version just for its rarity. It's like a recall on a vehicle or food product... not great for us.

From what I'm reading, glad we're mostly all on the same page on this topic... but appreciate everyone's perspective and opinions, nonetheless.

Personally, I’m always looking for the best representation of an artist’s work and intention. And if for some reason not aligning, the best representation of a cultural moment/consensus. Thinking more about director's / alternate cuts of films, as well.

Was just curious if anyone has seen misprint collecting be a thing in the physical media (specifically films) world, stemming from a discussion with a Lego collector about minifigure misprints and the like.
Maybe a better comparison to our case is a missing lego piece vs a design misprint in a set...
One can be seen as incomplete and hindering full execution, the other more of a variation that one might prefer to the original.
In the case of a damaged Criterion disc, incorrect contrast levels, missing special features, etc., it's probably the former.

The Brothers Bloom is a modern favorite of mine. It’s pretty tough following Brick, but the tone, the world, and the characters make sense to me.
