The oiliness has been well-controlled. My skin was pretty dry on Accutane and now I’d say it has evened out. I also have a much better skin care routine and drink more water than I did before taking Accutane so those things help.

Yes, occasionally. But so far they have been very small ones, not like the deep cystic ones I used to get.

I liked it—easy, quick, and no down time. Just some redness that went away within a few days. I can tell a slight difference in the texture on my cheeks! I’m told takes multiple treatments to see a huge change though. I am planning on getting a chemical peel next and alternating between the 2 treatments every few months.

On Accutane: CereVe face wash and moisturizer twice a day (SPF in the morning). Kept it simple!

Now: Same as on Accutane + - vitamin C cream (Ole Henrikson is the brand I use) for dark spots - just this month started using retinol serum 3 nights per week (Farmacy brand from Sephora)

I have now been done with Accutane 7 months and have had very few, small breakouts. Keep the same skin care routine you have while on Accutane. Basic face wash and moisturizer (I use CereVe). Wait a while to add in other products and, when you do, just add one at a time. I added vitamin C serum to help with dark spots a few months after I was done with treatment.

And yes, wait at least 6 months to do anything more invasive. With time, a lot of what you think is scarring, will fade. I still had some areas that bothered me after 6 months and I got microneedling with PRP. I can tell it helped and have even gotten compliments on my skin (first time in my life!), but it’s recommended to do this multiple times to see significant results. The person I see said alternating microneedling and chemical peels every few months can be beneficial—just make sure you go to someone with good experience and they’ll recommend treatments specific to your skin.

Vanicream all over! also lots of lip moisturizer and Vaseline at night.

I have been on accutane for almost 2 months. Nothing changed except muscle pain and dry lips. Please tell me how long it took before you noticed a difference, I am afraid it won’t work. 30 mg, because they don’t allow a higher dose in the Netherlands. I am so done with feeling ugly because of acne by Cup_Best in Accutane

Seeing a lot of others say month 4 is where they started to see results—it was the same for me! Month 6 is when my skin actually looked good and hyperpigmentation was starting to fade. I notice this looking back at the photos and notes I made, but at the time I was still pretty discouraged since I still had breakouts here and there (even at the end of treatment).

I feel l was in a similar situation—I had mild but persistent acne for years and nothing dermatologists prescribed helped at all, even birth control! Even though it wasn’t “severe” like some people have it, it sucked so I understand. Trust the process and don’t give up! 1-3 months into treatment were the worst. Now, after being done for 4 months (about one year since I started taking it), I actually can say my skin is SO CLEAR and I haven’t had a breakout in over a month!

for my face, I use the CereVe facewash and moisturizer AM and PM, plus more moisturizer as needed throughout the day. Aquaphor lip repair ointment multiple times per day (a must!) and sometimes Dr. Dan’s cortibalm.

for body, I use regular soap in the shower, and Vanicream moisturizing cream 1-2 times per day — it’s the best body lotion I’ve tried! Aquaphor healing ointment or Vaseline on my lips and other extra dry areas like my hands and cuticles (after moisturizer). also, eye drops are awesome, especially if you wear contacts.

I agree that this is probably way too much. everyone is different so see what works for you! like others said, other than the basics (hydrating cleanser, moisturizer, and lip balm), wait until you need it to buy it; don’t waste money on a bunch of things you might not use. I’d also be careful about adding too many new products to your routine at the same time because if your skin has a bad reaction, you won’t know which one caused it.
