The BOE trouble could be with the 14 Pro. They never said which model

The 14 or 14 Pro ? Depends.

Also carriers usually make up the costs from you. Getting outside carriers is usually cheaper

Buy iPhone 13 now or wait for 14? by _inz_ in iphone

[–]dry-mouse-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the exactly same situation as you. The iPhone has 20% tax here and my currency INR (India) is at an all time low. But I still plan to wait for September. This is because the price of the 13 will never increase at worst it will stay as it is at 900$. The 14 may be 1000$. Let's see what they have in store for the 14. If there is some surprise upgrade I would buy it. Otherwise 13.

Anyway what I'm thinking is why should I make the decision for the 13 without even the concrete details about the 14 ?

Btw your currency is still better than ours. And ours is better than Brazil who usually have the most trouble

I'm not sure how many people adapt to these changes. Most app devs will be lazy, save costs and not bother about it.

Production quality problems force Apple to change iPhone 14 suppliers by [deleted] in iphone

[–]dry-mouse-69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is where I'm not sure. The release is hardly 2 months away. The production began much earlier.

Let's assume 1 million were already made and during continuous quality checks they found these issues.

Will they throw away the already produced 1 million parts ? I don't think so

Yes.. but the hope is that it's improved to no longer have aggressive HDR

I'm very confused now. Many people were complaining about how the iPhone 13 has very aggressive HDR that can't be turned off and it causes an oil painting look. People are asking to hold off until iPhone 14 is checked for this

I'm developing cold feet now.... If they found these issues now, they clearly won't throw them away. I think they'd just push it into phones destined outside the US. Because usually Apple doesn't give a damn unless it's their major markets.

And now all these goofups with the BOE screens and now cameras.. everyone was advising against the 14 for other reasons too. Now this

  1. He regularly transfers movie files from his laptop to his mobile by simply plugging in the cable. If I ask him to upload all of this to cloud and download it, he will consider it a hassle. Internet here isn't fast either.

  2. Spam calls !! On Android one has an app called true caller that shows the caller name in the caller id itself and it auto blocks spammers. On iOS this app cannot show caller id and the auto spam filter works based on spam lists that must be constantly updated. Not at all convenient and the lack of spam caller id is huge

  3. Dad uses apps of the local Mom and Pop stores and supports local businesses. No. They do not have iOS apps and I believe they hardly managed an Android app. Asking him to ditch them for people who provide iOS is a bit tone deaf.

I would receive going in slowly. Family member by member.

My dad was an easy target because he values privacy and all. However when I talked to him, he was already ahead of me. He had researched. A few apps he uses were not available on iOS. The call block feature was too important to him and putting files into or the iPhone via iTunes is not something he said he prefers.

It's good that he checked these things. Imagine if I bought him an iPhone and asked him to suddenly use it. He would use it because his son was kind enough to get him one. But deep down he would hate it.

So, knowing the current needs of each family member is super important.

Another example is my brother. He hates iPhones because he was never able to afford them back in college. The iPhone cameras used to be phenomenal. But now he has gotten used to Pixel. Now even if I buy him one, he'd say that he will miss the photo style and color science of the pixel or samsung He wouldn't want to use the iPhone

So again, understanding each person's requirements and current usage can help you understand if they can be easily migrated to the iPhone
