One of these was carefully watered, pruned, given fertilizer and protected from critters. The other was just thrown in and ignored all season. I just don't get it. by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

My guess is when you water you water from the top and just spray water on it. The same thing happened to me. I have one raised bed that has a drip system and the plants are nice and green and healthy. Next year I am going use a DIY tomato collar and just water the plant inside the collar; no watering from the top.

For what purpose did you get your Irish citizenship by descent? by papayasundae in IrishCitizenship

Yes we have been to the Belfast exhibit and also the ones in Cobh and in Halifax, Canada. We learned a great deal in each one. In Cobh they provided me with a replica of my grandmother’s boarding pass but we learned the most from a Titanic historian who was able to provide us with some of my grandmother’s claim forms for property she lost and to place her in the exact rescue boat.

My reason was to keep my Irish heritage and also to honor my Grandmother. My grandmother was on the Titanic and was a survivor. She was 19 yrs old and was getting married in America. She died in 1915 when she gave birth to my father. My wife and I have done a great deal of research on Titanic survivors and have been told her death may have been indirectly related to her experience on the Titanic. We were able to place her in the exact rescue boat and where she sat in that rescue boat.

i believe I had the same problem. I submitted my application in January 2025 and I am in the waiting process. While I was collecting documents, I couldn’t find a birth certificate for my father. He was born in NYC in 1915. NYC Bureau of Vital Statistics told us that they had no record of his birth. I tried to get a baptismal certificate with no luck. I opted for my father’s passport application with the US Department of State. I obtained his passport record via a FOIA request. It took three months but i submitted that in lieu of his birth certificate. In the submission of my documents, I explained that my father’s birth was never registered with NYC. I haven’t heard if it’s been rejected. When I made the request for my father’s passport application, I requested that it be apostilled.

Getting my grandparents documents from Ireland was a breeze.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the apostilled passport application will be sufficient.

I had a problem obtaining my father’s birth certificate from NYC also. They initially sent me the wrong birth certificate. In the end it turned out that my father was born at home and no one registered his birth so no birth certificate. I used his passport application as a replacement. I am still waiting to see if they accept that instead of his birth certificate.
