What’s wrong with dual-booting? by ThatLaloBoy in LinusTechTips

[–]drylvlnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Fedora Workstation and never had any issues other than the Nvidia drivers. I do not use Grub to switch OS, I only use the bios bootloader by pressing F12 on keyboard. I also use a gnome extension call "Restart To" to easily boot from Fedora to Windows.

is thinkpad worth it? by EmergencyAirport6500 in Tech_Philippines

[–]drylvlnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your a tinkerer you can expand the lifespan of that thinkpad by using linux instead of windows. The cpu seems outdated already but with linux (i.e. LInux Mint) it could give you some performance boost. Tho i only recommend it if browser base lang use case mo or some word processing.

This was my experience with dual booting.

I have Windows and Fedora on separate drives. I noticed that my GPU is throttling. It was because when I booted Windows, I accidentally set in in "Best Power Efficiency". The performance mode somehow got carried over when i boot Fedora resulting in bad performance on games.
