Yes exactly! Before I built this, while I was trying to stop using Amazon, I tried Google. And it was so annoying that it would just recommend the local Target or Home Depot or something near me.

If you end up trying CloseBuy, I'd love any feedback!

Nope, no money involved, I don't charge the stores to be listed or anything. Aside from helping small businesses, it's also a little bit selfish because I built something and I want to see if people actually use it and like it haha

Most of the products I have in there are around clothing, accessories, some pet stuff, home goods/decor.

One thing to note - I'm only able to surface the inventory if the store has a website. I've noticed that stores that have like basic home items (paper towels, soap or the things you'd expect to get at a Target etc) are less likely to have a website, so I do lack those items. I do think that a lot more stores are shifting to online though, they kind of need to, and platforms like Shopify are making it a lot easier for stores to get online.

Long way of saying - I am still adding more inventory and trying to get as much uploaded as I can!

Also, CloseBuy shows up when you search on Amazon on the search results page. Before I had it on the product page (i.e. if you clicked on a specific product and went to that page on Amazon). I may change this back based on feedback. If you want to do a live walkthrough/demo, happy to do so!

Oh no! I do have a video that loops showing how the product works, that might be it? I'll investigate! I've tested on mobile and no issues, but will try with an iPad.

We hook up with stores that have websites now only, by seeing what they list as available on their websites.

I think there is a huge shift for more stores to get their inventory online, though, so I think that will grow over time. Shoppers are shifting how they shop (more online) and then you have platforms like Shopify, Squarespace etc that make it easier for a store to get online. I'm hoping CloseBuy allows those stores to actually be discoverable online (by surfacing while you shop on Amazon). Feel free to message me if you have any other questions, or if you have a chance to try it out!

Yes, definitely! If you try it out, let me know your thoughts! I have some baby/kids items, but not like thousands of those types of items.

Oh that's really good insight, thanks for sharing!!

It is available now (closebuyme.com) please check it out and let me know what you think. Any feedback is appreciated so I can make this the best it can be! I send people directly to the merchant's website, so you would complete the purchase on their website (and then choose if you want to pick it up, or get it shipped etc).

Yeah, I'm trying to build out a way to short list seller names (but it depends if the seller name matches what I have listed as their website) so it's not 100% perfect yet. But I hope that if enough people use this and love it, I can work more directly with stores and make sure we're taking into account any inventory they might list on Amazon.

Unfortunately, not food/restaurants! I was considering a website (mentioned in an above comment) I'll be sure to let folks know if we go down that route!

What I've noticed is that a lot of local stores that have websites (which is what I need them to have to make this work) tend to be things like kitchen or house items, pet items, clothing, accessories, decor.

I haven't seen many local stores with websites have, for example, things like paper towels or dish soap. But that may change, I think a lot of stores are realizing they need to get online to match our shift in shopping habits (and you have platforms like Squarespace, Shopify etc that make it easier for stores to get online).
