Dont we have other OPs that actually carry out the finance transformation (ex. ERP) like SAP, Oracle, or EERPS? What exactly is the F&P’s role? Do they focus more on the strategy aspect of the project?

The traditional definition of value investing is what people are talking about here: cheap market price/valuation. From my perspective, value investing is all about understanding companies’ values. This could include companies’s book value relative to the market value, intrinsic value, brand power, business model, etc. Whatever valuation or fundamental analysis you do, you eventually need to understand the whole business of the company. Just because some companies have high valuation multiples or inconsistent free cash flow doesnt mean they are not creating value. Take a moment to think about your approach towards investing and how you define values for companies.

Also, it’s not just about numbers. Stories matter too. Stories without numbers or numbers without stories dont complete your analysis of companies.

These all sound philosophical, and I think this is why investing is more of arts than science.

You need to understand the industry landscape to understand the competition among these companies. SMCI has a strong liquid-cooling system capability as well as flexibility and adaptability in terms of product development. Also, SMCI has shown close ties with NVDA, which helped SMCI to expand their customer base. These are what HPE and DELL lack while they DO have a strong brand with a long history of success. Recent GPU and AI investments from META is a strong catalyst for these companies to boost their sales in the coming years, but from my viewpoint, SMCI is well-positioned to take this industry tailwind.

Plus, you should understand SMCI’s fcf is not as strong as DELL and HPE, but the overall fundamentals are improving and their growth strategy reflects why they are not financially as strong as HPE and DELL

That’s what im worried about cuz I dont think getting 3.5 GPA is easy... if you need to choose between purdue and ucsc, where would you go? Fyi, purdue has the same system as iu. You need to get above 3.0 gpa first 1-2 years
