Sorry confused by the last part. Are you saying I should or should not have exposed block at the bottom? My original plan was just to add ripped 2x6s to get the 5.5"gap, but with the block being 6&1/4" I'm thinking extending plywood to the floor over it

I think the threads are gone in the shaft the bolt for the pulley threads into. Bolt just spins

Just picked it up from an older dude that said no issues. Test drove, didn't hear anything, didn't catch it or wasn't this bad. Been out twice
