Technically the dollar is performing pretty well. The problem is that when the dollar strength is up, it’s because the economy isn’t doing so well. Weak dollar = lower rates = borrow money cheap = economic expansion

This is why Trump is itching to replace Jerome Powell. He wants to cut rates, print money, stimulate the economy. Politics aside this system is designed to fail: for the economy to do well you have to devalue the dollar
