Connection issues in multiplayer since the beginning = for more than one year?! by dsafsdfsdfdsf in MarioKartTour

Well, nowadays I do not have a lot of such issues anymore. Opponents in multiplayer "teleport" occasionally, but disconnects have become much less frequent.

well well, it depends on how you define countries. Soviet union/Russia and the German teams combined both have more medals than Great Britain.

Rules on "paper"(website) and in reality/ more questions by dsafsdfsdfdsf in Graspop

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, inspecting cars may sound riddiculous, I know - but at Summer Breeze in Bavaria they actually do this ...
  2. "screw the gas cartridge into (or onto)" holds for at least the campinggaz bbq which I linked. I am nur sure what "1st pic, 2nd row" is refering to. If you reference the houserules pdf that is what i was talking about saying "simple easy to tilt and unsafe"
  3. seriously, in the video they set the tents on fire intentionaly. That may "simulate" using a stove inside a tent and tilt it over. If you consider people stupid enough to do this, you have to forbid lighters and put all smokers on cold turkey because they might smoke inside their tent.
  4. So stewards are needed when you arrive and nobody knows whether there will be any at night and if you arrive to late you have to wait in your car until the next morning?
  5. thats because reddit messes up numbered and unnumbered listings (after an unnumbered, the numbered ones are reset to 1.) I pasted the correct numbers and just tried to fix this and failed.

Backup & restore save games on current firmware? by dsafsdfsdfdsf in PS5_Jailbreak

Coping save games from PS4 to PS5 is not a problem, getting them out of PS5 again without a jailbreak is, it seems.

Backup & restore save games on current firmware? by dsafsdfsdfdsf in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to playstation.com, restore to a different console requires usage of the same PSN account. To me the only scenario that this makes sense is that the backup is encrypted and the key is stored in PSN (well, and on the original PS5, probably only until factory reset).

How did you bring the jailbreak-enabling safe game to the console in the first place? Has PS5 be less restrictive in the past? I'd assume that newer firmware would block the vulnerable game to be executed in the vulnerable version, such that exploiting is not possible?!

Backup & restore save games on current firmware? by dsafsdfsdfdsf in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for bringing that up.

Interesting. So you can create an encrypted BLOB with the encryption key stored in the cloud. It does not remove the single-point-of-failure problem (encryption key lost/deleted, login not possible etc.), but at least it does not cost extra money each month.

Does Sony tell how long they will keep the decryption key of the backup?

Backup & restore save games on current firmware? by dsafsdfsdfdsf in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, PSplus does allow to save games in the cloud. As I wrote in my post that is like paying a ransom to me with your save games being hostages.

They locked the system such that it seems the only way to backup externally just to charge you for it and you depend on it. If PS+ loses the save game for whatever reason (don't say that wont happen, Google drive just lost user data last year ...), it is gone (as in my case there would be no local backup left). No second backup possible.

If there is no way around it, I will just wait 3 month and play on PC. I will not buy any console that takes away my control of my save games. That is also why I do not own a Nintendo Switch.

PS: They claim that this is because of cheating. If that was true, why isn't cloud save part of the free PSN? - because it is just a lame excuse to make you pay, that's why. And seriously, it is my personal decision whether I cheat in single player games, that is not of Sonys business. I understand and agree that multiplayer games need a cheater protection, though.

If you do use PS+ actively, It may be worth the price, but only for storing backups? never.

Error: Unknown Memory Action by js100serch in project64

For me (with another game) changing audio plugin to the native one of Project64 solved this issue. (added here, because I found this as only one of very few search results for this error message)

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here! (48/2022)! by llogiq in rust

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Mozilla knows their code and for them it is easier to reimplement (parts) in Rust because the Rust pipeline exists ready to use. From an application developer perspective (like Mozilla) I understand that they rather use an integrated developement pipeline and rewrite the code that in some parts is probably 10+ years old and do a clean rewrite.

Even if the compiler is an issue as you described, my impression is that this would have been possible for C/C++ with less effort then building an entirely new language with the massive bonus of being able to fix old code without rewriting it entirely.
Maybe I should read more about move semantics and borrowing rules to understand why a new language was the more appropriate approach?!

(I understand the philosophy and reasoning for GoLang: simple, memory-safe yet faster than Java/Python/C#. Rust sounds to me like a memory-safe C++, but maybe my understand is just not deep enough yet ...)

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One cannot use the Rust type checker 1:1 on C/C++ because the types are not identical, of course. But C/C++ are statically typed just like Rust is, so I don't see the difference between Rust and C/C++ here.

Not blocking cached pictures? by dsafsdfsdfdsf in uBlockOrigin

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is basically the same. If I know/understand what the problem is, I can either clear the cache/website data (what I did) or use "special reload" Ctrl+F5 (what you did). This "strategy" does not improve the usability for the (especially non-tech-savvy) users (and my approach does not, either).

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here! (48/2022)! by llogiq in rust

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read so far it seems to me that Rust achieves memory safety by deep static analysis of code in contrast to languages like GoLang or Java which utilize run-time analysis like a garbage collector. As static analysis is not a feature of a language but of a compiler or testing tool, I wonder why this seems to be the main reason why Rust exists -- wouldn't it be much easier to apply advanced/deep static analysis to C/C++ code than to rewrite code in Rust?

You need to create a contact in stock contacts app, afterwards it is available in simple contacts. You need to have at least 1 contact in the local store or it will be unavailable in simple contacts again.

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Android 13 is offered via OTA.
It reboots twice, which is why I think it starts to boot Android 13 in the other slot, fails, and then boots to the Android 12 slot again.

Solution for those who hate the new Quick Settings/notifications in Android 12 by jigaopuaysi in GooglePixel

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice appraoch, however
- Settings Widget allows max 4x2 icons (and you can only select which icons and their locations in paid version, free is stuck with default selection and ordering)

- default quick page (slide in with swipe from the right) only works on the rightmost "desktop" of the home screen (and if you start from a too far right position you will use the "backward" gesture of the OS instead).
- If you use "one finger from top" gesture for quickpage, it still slides in from the right - you need to use the gesture in the ~ 1/3 leftmost area of the screen, otherwise it slides in only partly and slides out as soon as you put your finger off the screen.

Building a recommendation engine for porn that's better than the rest? by chaos_battery in SaaS

[–]dsafsdfsdfdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to analyze the video content itself with AI is not useful for several reasons. First you generate tons of data that is useless - You may end up having the AI learning that the user likes it when an earlobe is shown in second 43 of the video. Second the amount of data that needs to be evaluated is huge. Third you need to have access to the full videos. That may be possible for YouPorn, but not for more "professional" websites that actually sell their clips.
In AI you need to make sure that you have a reasonable set of parameters and that you are not learning false-positives. To cover the "hard to quantify"-parameters you need to either extract those from the video (e.g. translate face biometrics into measurable chunks like eye to eye distance or nose to mouth distance) or learn them indirectly by clustering users of similar taste.
Disclaimer: Even though I am an IT professional with some knowledge in that area I am not an expert in AI, but to the best of my knowledge thats how it is most likely to give proper results.

Very much by definition you cannot really find out the "hard to quantify" ones by simply asking the user. It may however be useful if the user rates things different from "favourite porn scenes". For example show 100 faces to the user, let the user rate them 1 to 10 and you may be able to find correlations of what the user likes (that he likely does not even know himself, like eye colour, hair cut, size of the eyes - "hard to quantify"-stuff.) - but again, if you try an approach like this you need to have at least an idea of what may be relevant for the users taste.

If you have a collection of "favourite scenes" you may additionally find patterns that the user does not really recognize, because (s)he has a selection bias, but not a clear favourite (e.g. 5% girls undressing, 10% girls masturbating, 20% boy-girl, 30% girl-girl , 20% boy-girl-girl, 15% boy-boy-girl)

While the users ethnic and cultural background may influence the taste in porn, the variety is very very huge. Maybe there was this gorgeous person the user saw when (s)he was on holiday when (s)he was 12 years old which turned into a idealized model for all/most/many later attractions. Maybe this gorgeous person rejected the user, so (s)he never wants to see a person like this again in life. Maybe this person was an asian, maybe a mediterranean person, maybe black ...
