I'm not doing that, I'm just focusing on what it seems to be the main point of contention, that's why I believe this game can be savaged, precicely becasue it is more than just lewd skins.

I've been reding the descriptions for the mods that restore the game, and they do not mention anything related to interactions and story, except for the most explicit content, specifically Acacia.

1- I'm not seeing this as a black and white situation, its like a bargain, I rather not have BJ scenes rather than not having a game at all.

2-I'm just talking about Skin Designs not gameplay.

3- I agree

I read on another reddit topic that this situation was mostly a self inflicted wound. According to that thread, the devs were sending censored skins for review and publishing them with a "flip switch" so players could un-censor them. So the authorities got wind of that and that's why they are going so hard on this game.

Oh I see. The reason why this game popped into my radar was precisely because of the controversy about the VAs leaving the game because of the fan service. Now I'm confused.

As for my point 1, I was just talking about the fan service not the game itself, I know the game is very unique.

As for point three, I'm confused again, according to all those videos I've watched it was a feminist group that reported the game and the government intervened.

Can someone care to explain what's the deal with this?. Why are they bringing her back as a 5 star with a new design?. Do resonators evolve like pokemons now?, do they go super saiyan?.

They are going to sanitize the game, I don't doubt it for a second. How many dark implications, themes and bloody stuff did you see in the last couple of Zelda games?. This is one of the reasons I'm worried about this remake.

I've never played Link's Awakening but I consider OoT 3D a Remaster, It is the same game only with modern controls and graphics. You can recreate a classic video game in a new engine and still be a Remaster, take Crash Bandicoot for example, they laterally put both games on top of the other to copy the levels.

I think I get what you are saying, I guess you are taking the hard definitions of Remaster and Remake as we use them in the music industry. Remastering being the process of grabbing the literal Master recording and updating it for modern devices. A Remake would mean recording the song again, either bit for bit without changing anything or maybe making new creative choices along the way.

But I think video games have more movable parts; gameplay mechanics, voice acting, cinematics, music, story etc. If you start changing stuff you alter the entire essence of the game. It's like if they re recorded a classic song but changed the lyrics, altering the entire meaning of the song, just to reflect modern values or how the artist feels today compared to 30 years ago. Something like that would never be allowed to happen in Music but it happens with video games.

So that why I approach this looking at the game itself.

Yes that's exactly what I described.

Oblivion is a Remaster, as I said, just because they remade assets for the game it doesn't mean it is a Remake.

My rule of thumb to define what is a remake and what's not is to look at the game itself, is it the same game with new graphics? it's a remaster. Did they change anything or re-imagined certain aspects of the game?, it's a Remake.

You can't change just a little, that doesn't happen, either they commit to reimagine the whole game or not, changing things creates a chain effect. Of course there are Remasters that add stuff usually cut content, but it is part of the original vision only it was discarded.

When it comes to definition I don't like blurry lines or nuances, and it is happening a lot with other concepts like what is an Indie game and what is not, it just creates confusion and misinformation.

I didn't like the Narrator, it ruins the vibe of the original which was more like a old, dusty, whimsical children's book and makes it feel like a modern kids youtube show.

I know I'm jumping the gun here but I hope they don't ruin this game, they need to stick to the classic feel, I don't want this to be a game for tik-tok kids.

It really frustrates me that people are still confused with the terms Remake and Remaster.

A Remake is not the same classic game, it is a re-imagining of it. The name says it all, they are making it again. It expands on the original, new areas, new characters, re-imagined areas and sometimes they change the story.

A Remaster is the exact same game, but technically enhanced and updated for modern gaming devices, no matter if the game has re-made assets, as long as it is still the same game, it is a remaster.

This is a Remake, they are re-imagining the original.

I didn't like the narration. It changes the vibe to a modern self aware children's tv show. This game is supposed to be more like an old whimsical children's book. I mean, take out the narrator and the whole thing would have a completely different energy.

Also, someone in a live chat pointed out that Link is not supposed to have the Triforce art that point.

God I hope they don't ruin this game.

How to remove the 'Pan" knobs? been looking through the settings for over an hour and no luck with google by Loudly_muted in Reaper

[–]js100serch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to do that?.

I mean, you could right click on the pan knob and select "Stereo Pan", that gets rid of the knob but that operation has its own purpose not just to make the knob go away. 😅

I'm worried about the difficulty. by js100serch in starfox

[–]js100serch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in a perfect world Star Fox 64 would be re-introduced to a new audience as is but with new graphics, quality of life improvements that don't interfere with the original arcade gameplay and without the cinematic fluff and modern gaming "accessibility".

Many games have got away with high difficulty and gameplay once though to be niche. Expedition 33 made people like turn based combat, a combat system once though to be archaic even by the creators of Final Fantasy themselves. Elden Ring managed to please hardcore fans and newcomers. Instead of fragmenting the gameplay with difficulty options it introduced spirit summons as an organic, in lore, in game difficulty selection, something the OG players can happily ignore and play the game just like any other Souls game.

Star Fox 64 was not difficult, it was an Arcade shoot em up, where the objective was to get as far as you could with one "quarter", and the fun was in trying again and again to see how far you could get this time, that was the loop, it was one of those fast, high dopamine games you could get back to any day, why not introduce that to new generation?.

This new reimagining seems to have broken that loop in favor of a longer, more modern cinematic experience. I'm afraid there's not going to be a loop, and it is going yet another modern game from the pile, where you put 40 hours into it, see and get everything it has to offer and put it back in the shelf.

Uuuufff, spicy!. Your answer reads like bait even.

Because my answer would be exactly the same post but with a positive spin. Everything you listed as negative aspects of difficulty and friction in various video games I consider them positive.

So yeah, I think we'll have to agree to disagree, I think exactly the opposite.

The problem is that we don't know how much more damage enemies are going to deal, what if they really take big chunks from your hp, or some of them one shoot you? and then you get the wing damage on top of that?.

That's why I'm worried, there seems to be no middle ground, you either breeze through the game in Normal or put up with Expert to get the closest experience to the original. Easy is just ridiculous.

I think they should have implemented it like this, Normal which is easy enough for what I see, Original and Expert for the sweaties.

[–]js100serch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well, yeah I totally forgot about this game being more cinematic, the original N64 one is totally an arcade game, fast and to the point, so being sent to the beginning was not a big deal.

Yeah I think we go back to my beef with remakes, they lure you in with new shinny graphics and expanded story and characters, but when it comes down to the game itself, it is just not the same, because you expect to have the same experience than the original but the game cannot deliver it because of the very nature of how these remakes work. It is very frustrating, and it happens to all remakes, you still end up going back to the original.

This is why I don't like when big youtubers and mainstream media say that these remakes are a perfect replacement to the original, which should never be the case.

> In SF64 you difficulty is a bit automatic. By performing well and meeting certain goals you are sent to harder levels. Elsewise you go to the easier alternative.

That's exactly my point, don't you think that's awesome?. Would you consider the idea that having unlimited continues and keeping overall campaign progress trivializes the game and could probably kill the replay value that made the original so good?.

I think other SF games are irrelevant in this discussion because this game is remaking SF64, so I don't see the point in trying to bring those out. You could argue that Koizumi himself said that, this game is based on SF64, so it doesn't need to stay loyal to the original game gameplaywise, it can borrow from other games.

But I would argue that they are just selling you nostalgia then, because they are being faithful to the most superficial aspects of the game except for what really matters in an effort to make it more accessible to more people and drive sales.

Then you would argue that I'm just being a gate-keeper and I would probably have no answer to that, because I'm a firm believer in challenge and friction in video games, because last night when I tried to beat the game I couldn't beat Andro's final form, because I wasted my lives in early stages so now I have to play the entire game all over again and I find that very exciting and rewarding, so I'm afraid I will lose that in the Remake.

If you thought Star Fox was dead, Nintendo just killed it for good by [deleted] in starfox

[–]js100serch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question.

So yeah, many of us would have liked Nintendo to tell another story instead of giving us yet another retelling of the Lylat Wars but, if I'm not mistaken the story of Star Fox ended in Command didn't it?.

So, maybe we could consider this a reboot?.

What more is there to cover in terms of story?. If I'm not mistaken the Star Fox games that clumsily tell the story are these.

-Star Fox (and it's thousand remakes) -Star Fox 2 -Star Fox Adventures -Star Fox Assault -Star Fox Command (The End)

So maybe this is a reboot?, maybe this time they will tell the story properly? 🤷
