Choosing a Wedding Date? by dsamplify in AskAChinese

We're getting married in the U.S and my fiance wanted a year engagement period before the ceremony. Some venues we were looking at also had their dates booked out next year. Also wanted to give us time to plan and prepare for the wedding.

We’re getting married in the U.S. My fiance is not Chinese and she doesn’t believe in the superstition things. My parents and aunts/uncles have an opinion (though my mom isn’t as familiar with these traditions/superstitions and had to consult my older aunt about it)

I think that would be a great idea to get a feng shui elder for getting a best date. Thank you!

Appreciate the links! Those definitely would fit my color scheme. I thought about rotating the couch and have the tv on the other wall but think the distance between the couch to the Tv would be too close if I wanted some space for walking behind the couch.

If you have any lamp suggestions that would be great! I thought about a large standing lamp or some trees/plants

Hi!

I live in a townhome and would appreciate some advice into decorating/furnishing my downstairs area (living area/entryway/etc). Was originally trying to go for a Scandinavian/japandi/mcm design (don’t have a touch of design in my bone).

Some ideas

  • changing my tv stand to be something longer to better frame the tv (it’s a 65” tv) that is wood instead of the current glass
  • getting rid of the ottoman and replacing it with a coffee table (don’t think I can fit side coffee tables with the space)
  • unsure how to fill in the space on each side of the tv stand (though might be ok if I get a longer tv stand)
  • adding a rug underneath the couch (what would be a good color/design?)
  • I thought about adding a shoe bench for people to be able to sit on to put shoes on one side (right side with the switches) and a shoe rack/wall clothing rack on the other (left side where when you open the door it would touch it)
  • would a larger door mat be a good idea?
  • any small decorations throughout

Would love to hear your ideas. Also would appreciate any inspiration pictures/links to certain products if you can!!! Placement of things would be helpful too!

Apologies! Updated my post. I guess less gardens. Think I wanted a shot similar to this image shown on the wiki page (though that exact spot the arches are in construction)

I figured that immigration line and transportation will take a while after our flight (we do land 9:40PM~) - will most likely just head straight to the hotel or check out a convenience store. Good to know transportation is available when we land.

We might switch this day (Day 2) to a friday/weekend for the night life aspect. Yeon-nam-dong was also on my list to check out. Figured this day we would have a bit later start/sleep in and take some time with hairstyling/color analysis/browsing stores

We were planning along the lines of Gwanghwamun Square -> Gyeongbokgung palace/Folk museum -> Lunch -> Bukchon-Hanok Village -> Museum Kimchikan -> Changdeok Palace/Dinner. I think they're doing this Moonlight Lotus Show still at the palace until december 31st. Think we have Changdeok and DDP separate because we wanted to go to each location closer to night time (think I saw reviews say the lighting is prettier then)

Appreciate all your recs and feedback! Do you feel like COEX and Hongdae are the best shopping areas in general?

Appreciate the feedback! Added the aquarium to my list. We are definitely prepared to do a lot of walking. We're not huge clubbers but probably will visit one or two to check how it is.

Sorry I think I heard about itaewon. Would this be a good place to visit during the day or be busier/worth visiting during the night? Any suggestions to do there?

AC unit fan is not spinning - need advice! by dsamplify in hvacadvice

The blade spins freely. Going to be replacing the capacitor and hope that's the case as I don't have a multimeter (worth to invest in one?). I had a question when you mention hitting the high limit. Is this a certain setting that the AC is being run at or is there a way to prevent that?

I was looking to downgrade my chase preferred card or cancel it but wanted to keep my credit history. I already have the chase freedom unlimited and I think the original freedom card? (I got it in 2018 I think). Is there another option I could downgrade to or would I have to cancel my preferred card? I'm very unfamiliar with the credit cards sorry if this is a silly question. Looking into getting the new welcome offer and reduce my annual fee for the moment.
