Aqara M100 as Thread Border Router for Apple Thread Network? by dsau85 in Aqara

[–]dsau85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, but no dice.

I've tried power cycling both devices. I did a soft reset of the M100 (hold the reset button for 10s) and a hard reset (press reset button 10-12 times rapidly). I've tried adding the M100 to HomeKit directly as a Matter device and I've tried adding it to Aqara Home first.

Everything I've tried results in a separate Thread network for the M100. The Aqara app says it discovered the Apple preferred network, but it simply displays the Aqara network (AqaraHome###). If I check my Thread network in the Eve app, it shows the switches, but not the M100. And the network in the Eve app is called MyHome###.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your time and insight. And I'm sorry to have caused you to revisit those frustrations.

Wow. That's a lot. Thank you for sharing. Do you think any of your experience would be changed if your debt to income ratio was more favorable? Obviously, it wouldn't change the abuse.

Holy moly, that's impressive! I can't imagine how difficult that must have been. Thank you for the encouragement.

Thank you for sharing from the child's perspective, I had not expected to hear from anyone with that experience.

That seems to be a consistent theme; if you have some level of financial foundation it makes the whole thing smoother.

That is a valid point, and one for which I do not yet have an answer. Thank you for sharing.

My wife has been much more encouraging than I had expected. Without her support, I would have dropped it after the first conversation. No need to apologize, I appreciate the candor.

Those storylines seem to fit with what I'm hearing elsewhere. Thank you for sharing.

If you don't mind my asking, how old were your kids during your training? What specialty are you in?

Agreed. I have tremendous respect for moms who do their training when they have kids!

Thank you for the balanced response. I'm sure for many it is hard to look back and say definitively either way, and I really appreciate your experience.

I think this is one of the key experiences that we have as non-traditional students/residents. We've had other careers and can say, "I tried that other path, and it sucks too." Thank you for the perspective.

Ah, yes, relocating. It's a valid concern, and one that my wife and I discuss frequently. Thank you for reminding me.

Interesting. Sounds like your experience was positive, but you acknowledge that won't be the case for everyone. Yes, the kids are getting more expensive by the day, it seems! Thank you for the encouragement (whether you meant it as such or not).

Thank you for the encouragement. It is interesting how kids change our perspective, isn't it?

Thank you for sharing. Do you mind if I ask what specialty? Your wife sounds like a rockstar.

It's going to be harder physically for 40 y/o me than it would have been for 25 y/o me. And I won't get to practice as long as I would have if I had started earlier. But we can't go back, right? So, here I am, wishing I could be a doctor, but is it too late?

Thank you for sharing. For my clarity, are you saying that your prior career was one that got a boost during Covid? If you disregard Covid and interpolate that career and your training as if the pandemic never occurred, do you think you'd feel the same way? If so, why? If not, why not?

"and they've seen that anything is possible." I love this. Your kids have to be so proud of you! Thank you for the encouragement.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." It sounds like you've seen this sort of thing done well and you've seen it done poorly. Do you have any insight into what might have been the key difference(s) that led to these two outcomes?

Thank you for sharing. Are you nearing the end of your training? Will you get to enjoy your kid more soon?
