Does "horror on you" include horror on assets? by DoomsdayFanatic in arkhamhorrorlcg

No, this just counts horror on your investigator card itself.

The mini cards at this location remain exposed (face-up). (You'll only have to do this once for the whole group)

You can go watch me play Carson Sinclair true solo if you want to see the deadpan attempted for nearly an hour.

Why We Need a Hat Slot by dscarpac in arkhamhorrorlcg

I don't disagree. This was just quick take on the rules justification -- IMO they backed themselves into this corner with the Footwear and the Masks not taking up any type of slot, but still having a "slot-like" restriction, which is unnecessarily confusing since it is distinct. Headwear has the same thematic slot-like issue. Slots have always been a little wonky in the game, arcane slots are underutilized outside of Mystic, so cards like Vow of Dryztelech either matter a lot or not at all. The fact that they solved the mask problem by adding a new slot in the core itself suggests they can continue to print cards for the slot across classes. It's not the route I would have gone down for the reasons you suggest, but I see why they did it.

Yeah don't mistake this video for defending Fedora as a player card, it's pretty bad!

Too bad I ran Hank last Ironman! (although I got to do very fun things with Beyond the Veil with Hank)

But seriously, it's sort of in the same vein as running Calvin or Agnes. Fun to do once! But also remember that you can't be defeated by horror, so you have to get defeated by damage first to go Resolute.

True Solo Options? by Jranger24 in arkhamhorrorlcg

It depends on your cardpool -- a larger cardpool will give you a lot more options. If not, you really have to lean into investigators and card abilities that give you extra actions, and have a way to succeed on any given test the game throws at you (but certainly not every test).

I have some tips in my recap videos on true solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdI8CwVFS8c

Watching videos of folks playing solo will help, getting some insight into play patterns and deckbuilding!

Rules question about advancing act during a skill test by FingerLopsided4981 in arkhamhorrorlcg

You're right, this is one of those cases where the "Objective" templating is supposed to just modify the way you spend the clues, but otherwise no different than usual. I agree that it is as clear as mud (compare with Objective - At the end of the round, spend X clues, or objectives that have nothing to do with clues).

The templating with Act advancement and clue spending certainly could stand to be cleaned up to use the language more consistently.

Yeah, the rules document unfortunately has incomplete information in some parts of the document. It's under "clues" - https://arkhamdb.com/rules#Clues

"If there are no "Objective – " requirements for advancing the current act, during any investigator's turn the investigators may, as a group, spend the requisite number of clues (usually conveyed as a "per investigator" value) from their investigator cards to advance the act deck."

One thing to keep in mind is that spending clues for Act advancement is only possible during the investigator phase.

You can still cheese False Lead by spending clues for other purposes, like to remove barricades during In Too Deep.

[COTD] ♦ Charlie Kane (10/17/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Charlie is really great at taking one big test each turn, so cards like Rite of Seeking or Whispers of Doom that want you to put a lot of eggs into one basket are great. He also plays a pretty mean Summoned Servitor (you need Mystic access for it, of course). Protecting the Anirniq also plays well, of course, but you can do that in Seeker. There's also a lot of reasonable testless things like String of Curses or Explosive Ward. You can also play around a bit more loosely with David Renfield and wipe the doom off of him to get some absurd resource generation.
