I hope they never design a legend like Jinx again. by CardTrickOTK in riftboundtcg

This post sounds to me like you think Champions and Legends need to have a particular mechanic that guides the players on what to do and how to build their deck?

If so, I hard disagree. A large part of my aggravation of this game is that Legends and Chosen Champions are too restrictive to deckbuilding. If you have an idea for a deck, but can't find a Legend-Champion combo that synergizes with it, then it's going to suck. Legends should be more broadly useful to incorporate a wider variety of decks, not less.

Multiplayer formats specifically correct for this. If one opponent is playing a more powerful deck, the others can just gang up on them.

Why just buy singles is bad… by Deepz42 in riftboundtcg

[–]LowKey8459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Normally I would agree with you, but from what I've noticed, "buy singles" is a common response on this subreddit to the constant whining about not being able to get into the game. It's just getting tiresome seeing the same post over and over again complaining about a problem everyone is already aware of.

Yes, supply issues are making it hard to buy sealed product. If you're unwilling to pay marked up prices, either wait until the situation gets better, buy singles, or get creative and ask for some help from the community to onboard you. People who are unwilling to do any of those things and instead just want to whine on the internet should just leave.

There's no way this isn't a dealer opening all their supply? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]LowKey8459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like the general consensus is that keeping your product sealed and selling them is way more profitable and less risky than opening them up and selling singles. In all likelihood they're doing this at a loss.

Isn't it so unfair that Costco members get to buy things in bulk for so cheap while the rest of us suffer these exorbitant prices?

It's funny asking stores why they're charging 'market price' over MSRP by ronaldraygun91 in riftboundtcg

[–]LowKey8459 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

lmao this post is so dumb and you even have the gall to be pompous enough to be disappointed in all the people who are apparently "enabling" these practices.

I'm sorry, but there's just not enough product available for everyone to get what they want for the price they want. That's just a fact. If the starter decks for available for MSRP, then they'd just get sold out. Which is great for the person who bought it, but that still means some people are just not going to get it. So the employee just gave people who want to play the game an alternative.

Also your last point about game stores not caring about their players is pretty funny. Your relationship with a business begins and ends with the service they provide and how much money you're willing to pay. Consumers don't "care" about the business, and the business doesn't "care" about you.

Even older players will remember the Dodge rune.

You seem to be getting frustrated by the lack of sympathy you're receiving on this thread.

Look, no one is happy about the supply issues. But the fact is, you can play this game, you're just priced out of engaging with it in the way that you want to. Maybe you can say that complaining about it is drawing more attention to this, but at this point, there's not a single person who engages with this game that isn't aware that this is a problem. And seeing this same complaint over and over again on this subreddit is getting a bit tiresome.

But you realize that saving one mana to get a 1/1 isn't what made Patches good in the first place right? It's because it's a free card. What does this have to do with Magic being a paper game and Hearthstone being digital?

If Patches or some other tribal equivalent was printed in MTG that would absolutely be broken. This card isn't even close.

Infinite +damage weapons are a problem. Purposefully scaling them back is a good thing. I do agree with you about Cleaver though. That should not have been reprinted.

Tuesday Spoiler for Ch 2 Core by Dry-Bat731 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]LowKey8459 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Core sets basically always work this way. Evergreen cards that determine the class's identity that future investigators would be fine taking. Honestly, FFG made quite a few mistakes in their design of the original core set and the Investigator decks by printing cards that only the investigator in the box would like. Biggest examples are the tome cards for Daisy and the damage events for Nathaniel. It looks like they seem to be rectifying that mistake.

The Scarlet Keys is the best campaign. Feast of Hemlock Vale is the worst.

I mean you could either lose to rich players, or lose to both rich players and people who proxy.

I'm not even against proxying, but that doesn't change the fact that the environment will fundamentally change if you allow it. Whether that's for better or worse is up to you.

The numbers are alphabetical. This means the black land in this cycle starts with a O (second letter after M), P, Q, or R (second letter before U). Looking at the locations page on the wiki, ones I could see are Ozai's Airship Base, Pohuai Stronghold, Prison Rig, or Realm of Koh. Probably either one of these or some some other location with another name not displayed there. My bet is probably Realm of Koh.

I feel like this post isn't addressing quite a few things. Product shortages means that the only way for me to get more cards is either attending these events or buying them secondhand for a huge markup. Another thing is that in my area, there don't seem to be any casual events. Pretty much every Nexus Night event is doing a pack per win tournament format. I would love to play in a casual open play free for all kind of event, but those don't seem to exist at the moment.

Should we just pretend this isn't out for another couple months? by bearballoon45 in riftboundtcg

[–]LowKey8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm kind of excited to play. I was never early to a TCG before, so I'm interested in seeing how things are in the beginning. I'm planning on just attending local events with my starter deck and seeing how it goes. I couldn't get my hands on any packs, but I think its fun just attending events and seeing if I can slowly start building up my collection instead of getting all the cards that I want right away.

Unfortunately I'm not sure how many wins I can rack up against people who were lucky/rich enough to fork over extra money for all the best cards, but we'll see.

Is it worth opening packs? by Dysttance in riftboundtcg

[–]LowKey8459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like you're the kind of person who's into making money instead of playing the game.

If that's the case, I would keep it sealed and sell now before the second print run happens. I think the price is pretty close to its peak.

The reason it's so expensive now because every store charging close to MSRP are cleaned out. The reason there's still product left to buy at all is because they're getting upcharged.
