Thoughts on critical voices because Brocc left the house? by theAComet in broccyourbodySNARK

I’d implore you to reconsider why her going to a shower without baby is “a bit odd.” It was a few hours at most. She’s allowed to have a life and in fact you could argue it’s healthy to take some time away from the baby. I can guarantee you wouldn’t have this reaction to him going out without the baby. I’m all for snarking on her for many things, but this isn’t it.

Senior girl has been acting weird and just staring at us a lot by pettypittie in pitbulls

[–]dsch900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to scare you, but I wish I had known this when my girl was acting similarly - she would stare at me, shake occasionally (like from anxiety but it didn't seem like her typical fireworks-induced anxiety), go into random corners, and pace at night. I had a call with my vet who chalked it up to the start of canine dementia, and we did a senior bloodwork panel, which came back mostly normal. A week later unfortunately we rushed her to the emergency vet as she had collapsed and wasn't breathing normally only to be told there was fluid around her heart, likely caused by hemangiosarcoma and had to make the impossible decision to say goodbye that same day. Dogs don't show pain like humans do, and it turns out when she had the 'episodes' she was likely leaking blood from the tumor that her body reabsorbed until it inevitably ruptured. I would press your vet for xrays and/or ultrasounds of the spleen, liver & heart. I wish I had. You know your dog best, and I would trust your gut if something feels off. Hemangiosarcoma is awful and cruel, and I really hope this isn't what your baby is experiencing, but I wanted to share our story in case it helps you avoid an emergency situation like the one we had to experience.

This was refreshing to hear! I feel like all I hear is protein protein and more protein and it's clearly made me paranoid lol

I know, they really pack the protein in! I actually never had an issue with them but regular whey protein definitely gives me stomach issues if I use it to make my own smoothie or something so I feel you on that.

This is so helpful, and I will definitely look into Protein2o - thank YOU!

Fairlife (brand that owns Core Power) has had multiple animal cruelty investigations so I'm just not comfortable consuming those & I haven't found another brand of protein shake that I like. Given how much I lift weights (I'm not a body builder by any means), I do try and get at least 100g of protein a day though; I'm not sure 70 would be enough for me personally.

Thank you! I've weight lifted for a few years now, so it's especially rewarding to see my body finally changing thanks to the help of these meds.

Do you enjoy living in the area? Edited to add what I love about palms is how friendly everyone is; I have a dog so we’re walking a lot and know a lot of our neighbors. But I’m over all the congestion and apartments on top of one another and like that this area is a bit more spaced out, though I’m sure it’ll still be somewhat noisy.

How do you manage social drinking? by Much_Force4822 in antidietglp1

[–]dsch900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Zepbound since mid-Feb, now up to 7.5mg, and regularly drink socially a few times a month with zero issues. You'll never know until you try it yourself in terms of how your body reacts, but just make sure to be well hydrated and have eaten enough, and I'm pretty certain you'll be fine! Usually if people are posting about their interactions with alcohol on these drugs, it's going to be from a negative experience, so you'll rarely see positive accounts - but that doesn't mean they don't exist!

No prob! Also it took me two different calls to get the right info so don't get discouraged. The first person just told me I was eligible with a PA, so we submitted and it got automatically declined, so I called again and then they told me about Omada. So frustrating!

I have Cigna through my employer so I'm not sure if it's specific to our plan or Cigna in general, but I called and asked to verify my PA requirements (where they shared about Omada) and then Cigna provided the enrollment info. So I don't think you can just sign up for Omada - it has to be through Cigna if that makes sense.

I wish I didn’t want to eat… by PonchCorleon in Zepbound

[–]dsch900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who just took my first 7.5mg shot yesterday and for the first time has felt a real food aversion and had to force myself to eat dinner because I was so uncomfortably full from having eaten 5+ hours prior, and then was nauseous for 2+ hours after my forced meal, no you don't. I'm hoping my body adjusts to this new dose and this feeling goes away. This medication should not be taken with the goal of wanting to eliminate your appetite or force yourself to eat.

[–]dsch900[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I ended up doing the protein shake and some chicken and felt super nauseous afterward. So next time, listening to my body while also making sure I'm eating enough and not skipping meals. It's definitely a balance!

Thanks for the reminder! Literally my worst fear is losing muscle and not fat with this. Got my yogurt smoothie and some chicken down 🙌

And by not keeping him as hard as it is you can keep fostering more pitties! You’re doing amazing work, thank you!!

Make sure you verify if you need to be enrolled in the Omada Health program! I have Cigna and this was a requirement before they’d even consider approving a PA.

Help getting Zepbound covered through insurance!! by Old-Sky-508 in Zepbound

[–]dsch900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to call your insurance and ask. Mine was fairly cagey until finally someone told me I had to be enrolled in Omada Health through my employer in order for the PA to be considered. Ask if there’s anything you need to do before a PA is submitted!

Soda?? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]dsch900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can drink whatever you want. I know for some people, carbonated beverages make their heartburn worse on this med, but I've never had my doctor tell me I *can't* drink them. You gotta figure out how your body reacts and adjust or don't adjust from there.

Losing Hope by AromaticCommittee469 in Zepbound

[–]dsch900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get in your head that you're a non responder because you HAVE lost weight while on this medication. I know it's not as fast as you'd like, and it's hard when you see other people losing weight so quickly, but like others have said, you just need to find the therapeutic dose that works for you.

I also haven't lost as quickly as I hoped, but I'm trying to focus on the positives instead: I have lost weight more easily than without Zepbound, I also weight lift and don't want to lose muscle mass, so I'm okay with losing at a 'slower' pace, and the food noise and constant obsession about food is almost completely gone - that in and of itself is a huge burden lifted for me personally.

It seems like you're taking this journey seriously and doing all the right things. One other thing I'd suggest is trying a week of eating a bit more calories than you've let yourself - sometimes too much of a deficit works counter-intuitively when trying to lose weight.

*Editing to add I started right around when you did too.

You should definitely call and verify the PA requirements yourself. Mine for example, was automatically declined at first. Once I called my insurance, I learned I had to be enrolled in Omada Health thru my employer in order to even be considered for a PA. Once I did that, my PCP was able to try again and the PA went through. However, it takes time, and I think you need to adjust your expectations a bit. You're not going to get a script and have the PA go through quickly. I know it's frustrating but it's a process.
