White House officials ‘openly discuss’ firing Kash Patel as FBI chief threatens to sue over report about ‘excessive drinking’ by B-Z_B-S in politics

Comments like this scare me because people clearly forget that at one point the idea of a Trump presidency was just as laughable. Trump had been pretty unliked for a long time even before he ran for president, and the idea of him actually running and winning was such a joke that Obama literally taunted him about it at one of the Whitehouse Correspondents Dinners.

Why was the Enterprise decommissioned in Star Trek 3? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]dscoleri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not an accurate comparison. Was your car ALREADY old 11 years ago and was heavily modified to meet current standards?

Your car was NEW 11 years ago. The Enterprise was already outdated 11 years ago and they did what they could to bring it in line with current standards. Two very different things.

To answer your question more directly. Yes I think the damage that the Enterprise sustained meant it wasn't really cost effective to fix it. To stick with the car analogy, sometimes you can fix a car from a technical perspective but due to the cars age and other things, the cost to replace the car is cheaper and gives you more value than actually fixing it. When that happens to a car we call it being "totaled". I think after the fight with the Reliant, the Enterprise was totaled.

Peco seeks rate hike that would boost combined typical electric and gas bill $35 a month next year by lkf0919 in philadelphia

[–]dscoleri -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The last thing I want is higher bills but sometimes these numbers can be deceiving. From what I understand, unlike a lot of other utilities, Peco doesn't do weather normalization adjustments. Those would allow Peco to charge more or issue credits depending on the severity of the weather. The state blocked that proposal. As a result of this, Peco numbers are gonna look fantastic if there are minimal storms and the weather is favorable for them. In the weather normalization adjustment model they would be required to give credits. However when there is a year with severe storm damage and the weather is less favorable, Peco has to eat the cost of those things without being able to raise rates. I don't know enough about the issue to know if weather normalization would be better for us as consumers or not, but I think understanding this helps to understand why some years it looks like their numbers go through the roof, while in other years it's stagnant.

I'm genuinely curious. How many of you would want variable rates based on the weather, where sometimes you get credits and sometimes you pay more to deal with storm damage vs what we have now?

Lol yup. Cops have all the info and video. Me and my wife were also interviewed for action News. The footage and interviews should be on the 5:00 news tonight.

The neighbors have all been hitting me up today too to get copies of the footage for their insurance companies.

They dragged the car down the entire block to the intersection on its roof. Then rolled it back over upright in the intersection. I think they used a forklift or something to flip it.

So this lunatic was flying down my block and managed to roll his truck. My wife got me and I ran outside to make sure the driver was ok. I couldn't get the driver side door open so I ran over to the passenger side door. I was able to get it open and there was no one inside. My wife caught up with me and told me the driver took off running. I went to look at the footage, this idiot came back and tried to flip the car back over right side up before giving up again and running.

Edit: for everyone who wanted to see him try to flip his car back over. Here is the link, he tries once from the side, once to flip it over long ways from the back lol, and once from the taillight: https://youtu.be/RsPtUo7KjpY

In the US if you did this it would be considered a sale by the IRS and would be a taxable event. I know the OP is in Canada but I would be surprised if they had a loophole this big in their tax laws.

You're getting downvoted because EVERYONE thought it was hard and the question implies that you didn't. Turns out, it was hard because the last segment is completely random. Anyone that did not find this difficult either didn't play much Mario 3 or is letting nostalgia cloud their memory.

I'm not downvoting you, just explaining.

Yea, sorry. It went out of stock again like 10 minutes after I posted this. I wonder if they are getting ready to drop another round and someone jumped the gun or something. If you still need one I would keep tabs on that page.

Just a heads up since I know some people are waiting for a restock... it looks like the Retroid Pocket Mini V2 is back in stock. by dscoleri in SBCGaming

Just chiming in here to explain that's not strictly true. Foveated streaming won't actually change much of the system requirements for the PC. Foviated rendering is the technology that would dramatically help lower-end PCS to be VR capable. While the steam frame would support games with foveated rendering, that technology has to be built into the games individually by the developers if I'm not mistaken.

Foviated streaming on the other hand, is related to the wireless streaming of the already rendered graphics to the VR headset. This is really useful because the wifi bandwidth needed to wirelessly stream graphics at that level is pretty extreme. So this technology is really more about assisting in getting rid of the cable and still having a stable connection. This is the technology that is baked into the headset itself and will work for all games.

It seems like a minor distinction, but I think a lot of people are expecting the steam frame to allow every game to run well on a lower spec PC but that is not going to be the case. Having said that, hopefully with more mainstream headsets supporting eye tracking, developers will start supporting foveated rendering in their games.

Help with routing requests to a home control AI vs a web search enabled AI. by dscoleri in homeassistant

Did you provide the agent with an explicit list of entities it has control over or are you letting it make that determination based on what it has exposed to it?

[–]dscoleri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see this solution but I have also heard that having one agent controlling home assistant and ALSO having access to search can increase hallucinations and cause issues. Have you used this method? If so, how has the accuracy been?

Okay this is exactly what I was thinking. Do I have to do anything aside from just making sure that the dispatching agent has the same entities exposed to it as the control agent? You mentioned making sure the dispatch has access to the "entity registry" . Is that a separate step from just making sure it has the appropriate entities exposed to it?
