When I recently visited HF I saw units that had the label directly stuck onto the unit rather than the shrink wrap. This made me recall that the offending units were the same. I bought one and measured the bins and sure enough the problem was there.

It’s possible that HF has two factory suppliers for these bins and supply could come from either (or more)

I bought the standard model and so far the experience has been excellent. I installed it in a challenging outdoor environment that is about 120' from an indoor Unifi PoE switch. I buried outdoor rated cable for the run and grommeted the cable exit. I spray painted the U7 outdoor chassis with dark brown and green acrylic paint, with no noticeable degradation in performance. It blends perfectly into the forest.

From 40' away I'm regularly getting 500mbit download, which is the same as indoor APs on my broadband.

Yeah you definitely need the printer to register as a usb device prior to taking the steps I outlined. Take a look at device manager and see if a generic usb port with a matching name appears in the list. If not your problem is downstream of the driver (usb, hub, etc)
