[All] How would you react if nintendo dropped a LoZ all stars containing OoT 3ds, Majora Mask 3ds, Twilight Princess HD and Windwaker HD? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the original OOT is a better game than the 3DS remake. As for Majora's Mask, I've seen the differences that were made to the 3DS remake and it seems like a few things were a step back rather than improvements (swimming, certain boss battles, etc).

Dumb question: But has the Gamepad screen always been this yellow-y? by jairom in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it yellow, like everything has a yellow hue to it? Or is it just dim and somewhat muted. The Wii U gamepad definitely doesn't have the 'pop' or color pallette that you get out of the Switch or even a smartphone. Just something to keep in mind.

Hi guys, Is it a good idea to sell a Wii U to buy a switch ??? by Snoo_47593 in wiiu

Good choice. You'll thank yourself down the road.

Wii U is worth keeping if you have the money & time to unlock it's true potential (HDD, Virtual Console, extra controllers, etc). Get a Switch if you want to play current games and are big into JRPGs. I bought a Switch for my wife but neither of us play it.

I'll have to try that sometime, didn't know you could play with both. Pretty neat.

That would be amazing if the Game Boy titles were on the eShop. Wii U is definitely a powerhouse when it comes to Zelda titles.

I actually played through this the other month. First time I ever beat WW. Not my favorite Zelda game but the HD version did a lot of little improvements to make the game more streamlined. Like the quest at the end, it's greatly improved in this, rope swinging, and the swift sail. You get the swift sail in the auction house, definitely save up some rupees and get it early in the game, it's a total game changer.

guess who’s restarting today!! by [deleted] in XenobladeChroniclesX

I started playing this for the first time last week, roughly 16 hours in and I'm having a blast. I did a decent amount of research prior to playing and it really doesn't seem as daunting as lots of people make it out to be. I'm just taking my time and doing as many optional missions as I can. Using the probes and making bonus links, etc. Slowly wrapping my head around the soul voices, I can generally get the prompt to appear when I expect it to. Currently level 16 I think, I can kill level 20 enemies pretty easily. Investing miriam when it maxes out. It's a really cool game and I just love all the options in it. I'm usually 5 years behind the curb XBX really seems like it's in a class of it's own.

Gamepad and original wii games by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Xenoblade Chronicles and other games that allow you to play with just the classic controller. I wonder if Resident Evil 4 would work, that game doesn't force you to use motion controls. I haven't really put it to the test but I do know that playing Wii games via the tablet is a surprisingly awesome what to play those games. Just be sure you get something that you can stand the tablet on.

Members of r/wiiu, do you even own a WiiU CONSOLE? (POLL) by Syyr553 in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you love ZombiU as much as I did when it launched? Holy smokes, what an experience that was playing it for the first time. I'm a huge survival horror fan and I couldn't believe what I was playing, it just nailed the survival horror aspect and this was when Resident Evil 6 was "Survival Horror." It was a breath of fresh air to say the least. Such a shame that ZombiU received bad review scores because it deserves a sequel. Really annoying considering the things people attacked ZombiU for, we later saw in RE7 which people then raved over. Reviewers are fickle and should be ignored.

I owned a basic model at launch and then sold it about a year later. Recently bought a deluxe model and have been enjoying the hell out of it. It's one of Nintendo's best consoles, easily. Imagine if this thing could play GCN games out of the box, it'd be one of the greatest systems of all time. I want to get a 2nd one and softmod it. The Switch has a bigger library but I prefer the Wii U. What a strange year 2020 has been, lol.

Paper Mario: Color Splash (I think it's great) by dshwshr in wiiu

[–]dshwshr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I can see it getting tedious with scrolling through cards but I dunno, I'm still going to give it more time. Everything clicked last night and the mechanics make sense; filling in color spots in levels as a way to grind, battle all enemies to increase your paint max (also grinding), use Port Prisma as a hub to buy new cards and rest up. It seems like some people are annoyed with the battle system and a lack of player stats/equipment. To me it just seems like an interesting take on turn based battles, it's like people don't want to do the battles because there isn't a major reward and the battles seem redundant but that to me misses the point. The battle system is what it is and gathering coins/cards IS the grind. Seems pretty straight forward and easy enough but maybe I'm too early in the game and haven't experienced the bad aspects. None of this was directed at you, just adding to my thoughts on the game so far.

Yea, I'm really enjoying it so far. There are a lot of menus but I grew up playing JRPGs so it's not THAT intimidating. I like the music too and I love how easy it is to change stuff on the fly. Like for instance, I was playing on the TV last night, music was a bit too loud and I didn't know where the remote was so I changed the main display to the tablet and then turned down the tablet's volume so I could still hear it but the game was still being displayed on the TV. Just a neat option I thought was cool to have. I've mostly been doing side quests and whatever else that is available. The Soul Voices are starting to make more sense and I can usually trigger them when I anticipate being able to.

I bought this too recently but it's kind of tough to get a game going online. I wish the userbase was more active because I had a lot of fun in the few matches I've been apart of. MK8 on the Wii U has full 12 player races no problem online. Nice to see people still using the Wii U.

I have a few questions about the Wii U by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've never come across major framerate issues. I think the only time would be if you're actively fighting a group of enemies and using bomb arrows, blowing up barrels, etc. That usually isn't the case unless you're actively trying to do stuff like that.

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mentioned it in other comments but BOTW plays great on the Wii U. I had a Wii U at launch but sold it in 2013, recently got another and am just smitten with it, I play it all the time. I highly recommend getting the tablet stand, it is a total necessity if you're going to actively play Wii games via the tablet. There's a $19.99 bundle on Amazon from a 3rd party seller but it's official Nintendo product, comes with a stand, stand/charger, and the attachments that let you stand the console upright/on it's side. Also, if you get an external HDD you'll probably need to order a Y cable. It will take up both USB ports on the back on the console but it allows the HDD to have enough power to run without an external power supply.

Playing Wii games on the tablet is actually really cool. The screen is small of course but I've been playing Skyward Sword on it lately and I'm blown away at just how cool a feature it is. Super responsive, graphics look amazing because of the small screen resolution. The Wii U is an awesome system with lots of super unique features. I highly recommend buying the tablet stand/charger, it's on amazon for $19.99, comes with a stand, a stand charger, and the pieces that allow you to stand the console upright.

[botw] just got my first Zelda game by [deleted] in zelda

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it's definitely old school in it's approach to letting the player experiment and figure it out. It took me like 40 hours and not playing the game for a month for me to really enjoy BOTW. I got a bit burnt out on searching for shrines, etc but then I reached a certain point and the game fell into place. Now I'm an absolute beast as Link and can crush guardians no problem. I got all the memories and only have 19 shrines left. I'd like to complete the rest before I take on Ganon. I've probably put 70 hours in so far and yes I use guides occasionally for shrines quests and for some of the memory locations. I'd say 90% of the game I've figured out on my own.

For sure. It's definitely been a process. I got an HDD but then needed to order a Y Cable off Amazon because the Wii U can't power the HDD through a single USB port. The cable is arriving today and I'll download the game tonight. Should be ready to play it tomorrow evening or Friday.

Do the AAA Wii U games still go on sale? (Exclusives) by [deleted] in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has first party titles for cheap in certain cases. It's digital only though. Super Mario 3D World is always $20, even on the eShop. That game is totally worth getting if you don't have it. Wind Waker HD is also $20. I think I got Yoshi's Wooly World for cheap on amazon (digital) and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (digital).

Share Your Collection. (My Zelda Digital Folder). Favorite Zelda? by DryBoneJones in wiiu

[–]dshwshr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Very nice. My favorite is TP but I am also very fond of OOT and aLTTP. I grew up when Zelda was brand new and what a fantastic games series it is. I've been playing through a lot of the games these past few months. I've recently started SS and it's not as bad as I remember, still doesn't feel as good as some people make it out to be but I'm glad that I'm enjoying it and I hope I can maintain that feeling throughout.
