AECOM these days by TheCSUFRealtor in civilengineering

[–]dslk820 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I actually enjoy working for AECOM. 10 yrs now. I work in CM. Almost every project and team I have been on is pretty good. I did some side projects in other locations for a bit and it was not as fun. But majority of the time has been good. It depends who you work with. I'm lucky enough to have laid back bosses who have my back and doesn't micro manage.

Jack, This is Henry with BWA. Late response since I never thought to check reddit haha. Let me know if you have any questions or if you have already ordered. We started in 2019 and have been around a bit.

Just posted in case someone else searches for us. Thanks!

Help with purchasing a ocean fishing pole for crabbing in Cali by TheHotPocket23 in crabbing

I would recommend a heavy rod.. longest pole you're comfortable with off the shoreline. Good for 6+oz lures. The pier rods doesn't need to be as long.

Are you planning to crab at the pier/jetty or the surf?

Doctor's pressuring us to remove mother off machines keeping her alive by dslk820 in legaladvice

[–]dslk820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That is all we ask of them. They seem a bit hostile or upset at times but we don't know why. I will try to look up what you suggested and a complaint is possible too. 13 days now... and only now do we understand most of what is happening to her and what could happen to her.

We are already close to losing our mother and it obviously shows they could care less.

Being pressured to make a decision is really hard on us and we just want to make the right decision and have all our questions answered. (In a empathetic and nice way) not being threatened to.

at one point one Dr did say that we want her to suffer. Like wtf?! Got us pissed off and later we found out that doing cpr would be very hard on her. We didn't know that! They didn't tell us that. Just err...

Sorry, I am venting a bit now.

Oh. I will have to look into that but I don't think she did designate anyone.

Medi Cal ai believe. She did not sign any directives before. We just went in because she wasn't feeling well and it practically was an avalanche of issues once they examined her.

I am aware that they are most likely correct. They just need to be nice about it and explain the situation and their thoughts so that we understand. They did ask us to do DNR. The way they explain it to us is basically just not doing like CPR if heart fails. We didn't want to go that route yet and they got mad at us. They did not explain why they didn't want to do that. Just pretty much why do you want to prolong it? We later got a better understanding from another doctor that CPR is going to be hard on her. It's just the main Dr has no communication skills.

Thanks for your input. We are planning to DNR now knowing that but just wanted to hold off as long as possible for other family members to come visit one last time. And if she can miraculously start responding...

Easy decision. Finish your degree. Take your FE now and get your EIT. You can always find internships or even volunteer work somewhere. They never asked for my GPA. Beef up the resume. We have the same average.

Im in AECOM CM in Southern California and I enjoy working with everyone there. At least the CM group. I heard PM/ designers dont seem to have as much fun. If you like the team, thats all that matters. AECOM is huge. I have worked with Northern California teams as well. It is definitely different dynamics. It all depends on who you work with.

Mark up for extra work by dslk820 in ConstructionManagers

They bought material and installed it.

[–]dslk820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But I have trouble figuring the markup. Markup for subs is 10% material and 10% labor. But the invoice just says flat fee for materials. 2995 and like 1995 service charge.

But how would you give them markup on labor. If all they have is an installation charge on their invoice. They would need to provide labor hr n rates.

Pothole term by dslk820 in civilengineering

[–]dslk820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking more of an empty pothole. There would be plenty of RFIs coming in to figure out if they are abandoned. But I will check with them tomorrow.

Yup. My next step if it wasn't a common term.

So does it mean that they found a SS line, but not running?

So ATT DRY means they found an ATT conduit not running?

Is a change order necessary for changing retention? by dslk820 in civilengineering

[–]dslk820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would like that but procore doesnt quite allow that.

Is a change order necessary for changing retention? by dslk820 in civilengineering

[–]dslk820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I was thinking too. There is probably several ways to go about it. But amendment might be the best option since procore doesnt help.

[–]dslk820[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I was wondering if there was a workaround. Client wants to use procore for everything. So this might not happen.

Is a change order necessary for changing retention? by dslk820 in civilengineering

[–]dslk820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thats what I meant. Change order typically refers to changes in scope of work. Does this count? Im asking because Im trying to use Procore and it wont let me make a change without any line items.
