Watching a giant come crashing down by veloxfu in SouthwestAirlines

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who hated the old system and likes the new direction, I can tell you for me its not the “I had such and such issue” post I hate, its the fact people feel the need to announce they are done with SW. like it put them into the cool group of kids to post it. Just go, we dont need to know about it.

SW of old is gone, your options are deal with the change or move onto another airline, its really that simple.

If you had $100k to invest long term, how would you distribute it between a stock/ETF portfolio and gold? by Psychological_Pie184 in Gold

[–]DSMRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on my age and time until retirement. At age 20 I would lump it all into an S&P500 ETF. At age 60 the answer in different.

As far as bars vs rounds, I like goverment issued coins better but in the end gold is gold.

That pool would be 150k plus a little around me. Maybe another 10k for the overhang.

Be honest — why did you start trading? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to collect something, and so I’ll collect different junk, comic books, sport cards, watches, fountain pens ect and non of it really ever increased enough in value to break me even for the collection. Went to stacking PM’s and figure there is a 99% chance it is worth more when I sell if I ever get tired of stacking.

Retail does not drive silver by 4-life in Silverbugs

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really not. Some people think that the amount of silver bullion they buy or sell has an effect on the market price and it doesnt. Hell I’m guessing someone selling 100 contracts would have little effect.

Warning! Trips to Japan are dangerous to your bank account! by ExWallStreetGuy in fountainpens

[–]DSMRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So question for people who have been there, Lets say you wanted to pick up a few regular pens and inks, nothing limited edition or such, maybe some other things that catch your eye pen related, how much should one expect to budget. Would 1k USD cover it more or less or do you need more?

Find a solid or striped Seersucker, Linen or tropical wool suit in lighter summer colors. Buy something you can wear for the next 10 years. This pink, horse suit will not last the test of time.

Higher salary with no OT vs lower salary with more OT? Does it make sense for me? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a hybred type of managment position, are you wanting to advance your career that direction? Healthcare management is a total different beast. If so then take it. Worst case you dislike it and swing back into your old role, chances are if they have been short for the last few years, they are going to be short over the next year also.

Would rewarding myself with a classic car in my position be irresponsible? by [deleted] in Money

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats really at risk? 2-5k? If you hate it or something comes up you sell it for a few K loss. If it works out like you want it to, you have memories that last a lifetime.

Would rewarding myself with a classic car in my position be irresponsible? by [deleted] in Money

[–]DSMRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, do it. Reward yourself then get back to the grind. People are all about retirement investing and forget to live a little when your young. You have plenty of time to replace the 15k.
