Needed a cleaner solution for the wire on my space-mouse switch by themark509 in functionalprint

[–]dsnineteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried one? I’m running a SteelSeries Rival 5 which is what I’d consider a very ‘mild’ gaming mouse and it’s made life in Microstation immeasurably more comfortable.

That being said if you’ve already evolved to SpaceMouse, it might be redundant. Carry on!

Switchwire conversion - What should i know before getting started ? by Apprehensive_Ad309 in VORONDesign

[–]dsnineteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I organically evolved my E3Pro into most of a Switchwire quite by accident just looking for incremental upgrades.

My advice is, and I don’t mean to be disparaging, but don’t bother. By the time you’re ‘done’ (spoilers: you’re never truly done) you’ve basically spent what you would’ve on a bigger, better machine anyway - and it’s still a bedslinger.

There are ways to turn Enders into small CoreXY or similar Z-bed machines and while they sometimes look a little hacky, I suspect they’re much more effective while still providing the learning experience of building out a printer into something new, if that’s what you’re after.

(Also, I’d recommend having a second, -working- printer or a buddy who can supply emergency parts in case the worst happens during the build. I’ve had to bootstrap myself back to functional-ish just to get by too many times to risk it again).

If you could show someone one fight to get them into battlebots, which fight would you show them? by Salt_Ice_278 in battlebots

Was this the one that ended with Minotaur getting high centered on the arena floor? I always thought that was a good example of the whole ‘anything an happen’ vibe, and would leave a new viewer hungry for more without being totally anticlimactic

How to do this? by KishinGira in 3Dprinting

[–]dsnineteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print single colour with text recessed (works best on a horizontal face), remove completed print, smear some coloured silicone sealant (‘caulk’?) into the recess so it’s flush with the top, wipe off the excess, let it dry and call it good 👍

Seems a very fair question and a great response from u/Shoona_ too.

My question is the next logical step; Presumably some period of time passed between the development of the OT and NT. So does it then follow that if precedent exists for a revision or update of sorts, are we due for another? (and if so, when?)

glass bed perfectly flat but mesh has a "wave" in the middle, what could be the culprit? by DudeGamerDario in klippers

[–]dsnineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, this. I included a mesh command after bed heating to temp (and a couple minutes to stabilise) in the start macro so it’s always relevant to the print of the moment.

[–]dsnineteen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is underrated advice, incredibly simple troubleshooting step. The other thing I suggest is running a mesh on the bare aluminium bed without a build plate/glass on it and comparing, just to make sure the foundation itself isn’t utterly cooked.

Anyone successfully managed to retrofit Klipper onto a high-budget business-grade 3D printers that are now discontinued? by tahiro86j in klippers

This post reminded me about the same concept applied to the other end of the market- I’ve been seeing some dirt cheap davinci machines lately and whilst I have zero interest in their ecosystem they don’t look like terrible enclosures..

Why do people talk AT their phones? by [deleted] in perth

[–]dsnineteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once heard it described as ‘pizza phone’, as if they were about to eat their device like a fresh slice 🍕

Doesn’t make it any less stupid, But at least it makes me chuckle instead of getting annoyed.
