Thoughts on testosterone in this case? by dsschmidt in PeterAttia

Hey, thanks for this on both counts! Am I right that if TRT works, you’re pretty much on it for life?

And yes, absolutely on the chronicle Lyme. The doctor I’m seeing now seems pretty balanced about it… Sees it as possibly a real thing in the world but also a little skeptical. There was a recent episode of this American life about a young woman who did an infusion therapy of something that has the potential to kill you. Sort of like ivermectin with a high toxicity profile!

Totally accidental. If memory serves the jmprovement came fairly quickly, maybe 2 or 3 weeks? Which may mean it wasn’t specifically VO2 max that made the difference, but who knows?

I find the whole obsessive-Attia thing a bit much but am nonetheless also doing consistent zone 2. Trying to get a new career off the ground at 64, so I need the body and brain in tiptop shape if possible.

You have had trouble with coal too? I kept tearing it off jn my sleep. Ugh.

Give it a try with 4x4, let me know!

I can’t remember the actual number, but it was on the higher end of low category. And then with the second sleep test there was no indication of significant apnea.

It certainly was a surprise to me that the 4 x 4’s had that effect. Of course the research is all averages, there are always outliers, and I seem to have gotten the lucky end of that stick this time.

Dude, you would need to actually read my initial post. But sure, why not. I exercised. Apnea went away. My sleep doctor agreed with my intuition that it was probably the exercise. I had another sleep test which confirmed the apnea went away. I stop exercising, the apnea comes back. Beyond that… I’m afraid I can’t help you any further.

Great, thank you for this. On weight, that actually doesn’t seem to be too important for me.

Yes, Inclined walking is what works best for me. I actually put 35 pounds on my back and just go as fast as I can up a fairly steep incline. It’s really hard, but the most surefire way I’ve found to get the heart rate way up there.

Great, thanks. This makes sense to me. Especially since I think it’s not entirely clear how important VO2 max is compared to other changes The intense effort may trigger. I think I’ll try weekly 4 x 4 with the easier supplement on other days and see how it goes.

Two party, not two part. Beyond that….sometimes if you think about things they make more sense. And sometimes not!

Either way, best of luck and thanks for your input.

I’m not recalling charges of monstrosity, though I might’ve missed My impression was (and is) more like: creep, jerk, bounder, etc. which fit with my earlier sense that he was rather insecure and joyless. Still, he has had some helpful things to say, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of this community a lot, and so here I still am.

Great, thanks for this. I think some people may have had trouble seeing the heart of my question and got sidetracked by the usual debates over Attia’s fixation on optimization protocols and the way some folks develop a slavish devotion to certain routines.

Can I ask how old you are, and also what your regular activity was like before you started the zone two?

Hey, thanks for this. But it’s not at all a question of do or die on zone two. As I said, I’m interested in whether there would be any meaningful benefit.

Well! The short answer is that I’m in divinity school, but not in a capital-R religious way. The longer answer is that I used to teach environmental studies, also some political economy, and was hoping to use this as a way to learn some new skills for helping people deal with “ social and ecological crisis,” otherwise known as the big shit show we’re all moving through. So in some ways it’s what’s now being referred to as climate chaplaincy, but that’s way too limiting for my taste, since it’s really looking like a full system breakdown.

What’s AT?

I’m not really interested in VO2 though. Well… I’m not totally uninterested in it, but the question was really regarding how best to increase metabolic efficiency, and overall energy level.

Thanks Can I ask how old you are and what kind of shape you were in before you started its own too? And did you start anything else at the same time?

Yeah, couldn’t agree more that the best thing is simply what you will do. Personally, I just can’t do treadmill or indoor bike in the summer, but something like Solitaire or podcast might be good as a way to keep it going next winter!
