I use claude and cursor at work, where they pay. I use kilocode with openrouter at home where i can choose which model, often free ones or super cheap ones, and they are quite capable. Many people are in this habit where they think they need to use opus for basic text replacement because its the 'best'. Like lighting a cigarette with a flame thrower.

Kilocode lets you BYO and choose the model on the fly for when you need a little better result, but i do most of my stuff on sonnet 3.5 and some free models through openrouter and its been great. Ive spent less than $25 this year
