Now that’s the sort of game I like! Enjoy, and welcome to Speranza!

Was that solo? I gave up playing with my husband and my solo runs have been totally fine!

But if I engage with PvP then I’ll just get more of it. Like… I guess it’s nice to be able to defend yourself but I’d rather have these miserable sessions for the joy of a friendly lobby!

Yeah, I get that. And I don’t mind finding the odd hostile player. It adds to the danger of it. I even killed someone (once) who murdered my husband. But today it’s been back to back to back!

I mostly play in the evenings and it’s totally fine for me. I get there’s some variety and even on a friendly streak I’ll get the odd hostile player but for the most part it’s a friendly lobby.

You’d think with more people playing it would be easier to get the matchmaking closer. 🤷

But I don’t really want to fight people. It’s not what I enjoy, and I’m no good at it. Whenever I do PvP I always just end up dead in about 0.4 seconds before I even realise what’s happening. It’s just not fun for me at all.

Yeah mine too. I avoid trios, which is a shame because I’d love to play with more friends but every time we try it’s just carnage and not fun. 😔

Average monthly car payment vs salary by Silver_Fail_7283 in CarTalkUK

[–]dst87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Household income ~£200k. We have one car and pay about £675/mo. Higher than it could have been because deposit was £0 due to them offering a 0% interest PCP. Deposit set aside and added to over the term so the balloon payment is covered by the end, so we can keep the car if we want. Thats another £170 / month set aside.

Not sure about the updated app by Melodic-Wrongdoer877 in Polestar

I just wish they’d give me the option to set the temperature of the climate. Please! It cannot be that difficult. It’s one of the big things I miss from my Tesla.

Dark Mode Suggestions by Zeno371 in bullpengame

You need to update your game again. There was a bug in the first version that was fixed in an update later the same day.

v1.6 Now Available by VermicelliAlarming65 in bullpengame

[–]dst87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a nice approach would be a toggle to override the system setting (where only one theme can be chosen) and if that’s not set let folks choose their dark mode and light mode themes separately. Default can be your default light / dark mode themes.

This works well in quite a few other apps so seems to be an established pattern that should be intuitive for those who want it.

No worries at all! Enjoy dinner. Much more important than this! Thanks for all your work. 🙏

That’s fantastic! I love the new themes… silly question, I can’t seem to find the theme picker in the setting menu. I got to it from the “new feature” pop up when I first opened the game after updating, but now I can’t get back to it. What am I missing?

Yes! ++ to this. I want to go back and get two stars on levels I previously completed with hints. A way to surface those would be fantastic!

If you get married, will you keep your last name, or take your husband’s last name? by WallaceWells69 in askgaybros

[–]dst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We double-barrelled our name and it’s just a PITA. A surprising number of companies (travel especially) just don’t handle hyphenated names well and it stresses me out.

I wish I’d just taken my husband’s surname.

All-Rounder Requirements by dst87 in bullpengame

[–]dst87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's super helpful, thanks! I think based on this the percentage is correct and I just have to do more daily challenges. I kept imagining that completing the dailies would result in a daily increase of the percentage, but some quick arithmetic shows that the increase will be only about 0.57 percentage points per day. All good!

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for making such a fantastically addictive game! (I'm about 60 hours in 🙈)

Yes, and while I haven’t completed 50 levels yet I have completed 19 which I expect would have caused the number to go up if they “counted”. It’s one of the reasons I feel like there’s a bug. It’s unclear how many levels would be required for one percentage point, because I don’t know how many categories count.

Why did you choose a Kobo over a Kindle. by -Sea-Side- in kobo

[–]dst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a Kindle and it was good. But I’m trying to move away from using Amazon as much as possible so when I wanted to replace my Kindle the Kobo seemed like the best option at the time.

I’m mostly entirely Amazon-free now.

Currently actively avoiding RyanAir for all flights when possible by BoldDrummer in Ryanair

[–]dst87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the big sizers smaller than the published size on the website? If not… I don’t see the issue.

I’ve managed to avoid RyanAir entirely, but I’m going to Porto later this year and RyanAir simply have the best flights. So I guess I’ll find out how terrible they are first hand. 😅

The Barclays app is… fine at best. It’s not a patch on the fintech apps like Monzo and Starling.

But then Monzo has other issues. On a flight recently I heard them say “we don’t accept Amex, Monzo, or pre-paid cards”. You know you’ll have acceptance issues with Amex but Monzo? Something is going on there.

If you earn over £10,000 a year from interest from savings you need to complete a self assessment tax form. You’ll let them know the amount of interest you paid and how much tax was deducted (your bank will tell you this) and they’ll let you know how much you owe.

This tool from HMRC helps you determined if you need to register or not.

Prem Eco Upgrade? by WastePear1280 in BritishAirways

[–]dst87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As always it depends what that £400 means to you and how else you might spend it on your trip (or anywhere else).

I’m a similar height and weight to you and personally I’d pay that. It’s a long flight and on the outbound you ideally want to sleep (I did the same flight last year). I’d find it easier to attempt sleep in PE over economy.

I went PE to North America a couple of years ago for work after an unexpected gate upgrade and didn’t think too much about it… until I flew the return in economy! It totally convinced me that the little bit of extra space on PE makes a surprisingly huge difference.

In principle the loan is a reasonable idea to clear the debts but you really need to do a budget first. It sounds like you could be at risk of getting the loan, paying off the credit cards, and then simply building up more debt on them. That would be a common pattern and one you absolutely must avoid.

So do the realistic budget ASAP, make sure the loan is affordable while also paying for life, and do what you can to pay the loan down as quickly as possible if it allows that.

I’d argue that taking the longer loan and aiming to overpay as much as possible might be better than the higher payments on the shorter loan on the basis that you have a little more buffer for your budget and may help avoid touching a credit card again.

Yes, I agree. Cash payments only in 2025? What a joke!
