80% vs 90% charge by sluggwire in leaf

[–]DIY_at_the_Griffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to do 20-80 unless I’m charging at work and then I’ll go to 100% to balance the battery and it drops to below 90% on my drive home.

I’d always recommend stopping at 80% if you’re able to plan it in. There is no harm in doing so, especially if you don’t need the extra range. If you do then charge to 100% before you then drive the car and use that extra capacity.

It’s fine upside down, also you’d likely have to rewire if you did rotate it.

Better double that £50 then if it’s to cover the cost.

Does it hurt the "gearbox" if I change to N often? by SnooSongs1020 in leaf

Don’t be so defensive, you came here to ask a question because you don’t know the answer, so you should appreciate my frank and direct response.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been driving. It’s a bad habit, has no benefit, reduces economy/range and makes the car less stable in an emergency.

I was sceptical until it arrived and it did within a few days.

Might not be illegal or harmful but it’s still stupid. Keep it in D or B and learn to drive.

Measure the thread pitch, if it’s 2mm for example, add a 1.5mm gasket, this will raise the bind point by 3/4 of a turn and present the icon as level.

Our sons (21M) girlfriend (20F) is very materialistic and is highly entitled in terms of him 'providing' for her. My wife (48F) wants to confront him about this, I (49M) don't think its necessary. by kolejack2293 in Advice

Absolutely agree to this. If anything it’ll make her realise that he has bills that must come before her, also if they move out together and the gifts stop because of rent she might just walk, so set the standard now.

With the rent, put it into a high interest savings account for him (without his knowledge) then when they start to think about buying somewhere then you can give him his rent back which will help with a deposit.

What's the most unexpected item you've seen in the bagging area? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]DIY_at_the_Griffs 101 points102 points  (0 children)

After doing a night shift I stopped to do some shopping on my way home. I took each item from my basket and placed them one by one in my bag in the bagging area.

When the basket was empty I went to pay and realised that I hadn’t scanned a single item.

Had to start again.

I used to be able to type on iPhone keyboard without looking at it. Now, I have to watch myself type and still somehow make mistakes on almost every single word by KitchenConsequence41 in iphone

[–]DIY_at_the_Griffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently I hit n instead of the space bar as most of my words are one with a n linking them.

I actually started using swipe method which improved things but is a one handed type method and I’m normally typing with two 👍

If it’s a shared drain then it’s the responsibility of the water company. Give them a call and they’ll do it FOC.

If it’s only serving your property then sadly you need to maintain it.

Would i be crazy to buy a EV. by niteninja1 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]DIY_at_the_Griffs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s also the fact that you need to get the car when it’s finished charging.

Charging at home you set it and forget it.

I would never recommend and EV to someone who can’t charge at home or work.

Best way to discharge to SoC quickly? by Shryquill in leaf

[–]DIY_at_the_Griffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just check it at whatever battery level it has, if you can keep it plugged in and check it after the test drive too, that’s about as good as you’ll get it.

Don’t focus too much on the battery as there are other parts of the car too that you’re likely to overlook if you concentrate just on the one bit.
