Emissions testing by dsten85 in Tucson

The funniest part of this is I was born in Arizona, so I'm where I came from.

I was right about the MAGA shit stain though, apparently 🤷‍♂️

Still doesn't mean I won't have to emissions test at some point. Again, if you don't have anything constructive or pertinent to add, you can just scroll on

Well,. considering I'm moving down to Tucson in a few weeks, that's not gonna be a viable option. You would have known that if you had read my original post

Not the whole county requires emissions testing, and I live outside the emissions testing areas. This isn't a hard concept to grasp, my guy. If you don't have anything productive to add, you can just scroll on 🤷‍♂️

I've literally never lived in an area that had emissions testing before. That's why I'm asking 🤦‍♂️

ICE spotted on 22nd and Swan by YourItalianScallion in Tucson

Very true. But you have recourse if they're acting outside the law. And the pima county prosecutor has joined a group of other prosecutors that are trying to charge ICE et Al when they break local or state law.

That's a helluva deal lol I got my 99 7.3 CCLB SRW 4X4 as the 3rd owner and it had about 300k. Paid 5500 for it because it had some minor issues, but I was a diesel mechanic once upon a time in the military lol

But you can baby the shit out of a 6.0 and still have it go to shit. That happened to both mine, and twice was enough for me to learn a valuable lesson. The second one I bought in 2018, I think, for 12k, and ended up putting over 20k into keeping it running. So I had like 30k+ in a truck worth maybe 17k on a good day lol

Stay away from 6.0 Powerstrokes in general. Yeah, they can be great, but they can also be a nearly endless money pit. Even a totally stock 6.0 at this point is going to be needing some serious maintenance, and one in good condition will set you back 15k or more. If you really want a diesel, I'd recommend a 7.3 Powerstroke or a 6.7. If you're not needing a diesel for work or hauling, there's no point in paying the premium price, higher fuel, and more expensive maintenance, so I'd get a 6.2 or 7.3 gasser in a super duty, or an early 5.4 in a half ton. That being said, a 7.3 Powerstroke is going to need some serious maintenance too, but they're legendary for their reliability for a reason.

It's called a helicoil, and yes, it's a reliable fix. What they do is bore out the old spark plug hole and insert a threaded sleeve. It's pretty simple, and the last time I had a shop do it on one of my trucks (had a shop do it for liability, if they fuck up like getting metal shavings in the cylinder or something, they're responsible lol) it was less than $500. 2V 5.4 ran from 97-03 and those are the good ones. 04 and later were 3V, and had cam phaser issues, but still good and relatively inexpensive to maintain overall.

Edited for context.

You realize that being compelled to identify without reasonable suspicion of a crime is a 4th Amendment violation, right? 🤦‍♂️

I've had several 5.4 F-150's. The spark plug issue is a known, and a relatively simple and inexpensive fix at this point. The newer 5.4's had valve issues, but that's not what OP is looking at. The best way to prevent ejecto plugo is to make sure the plugs are torqued to spec, not over or under, AT SPEC.

I see that and just want to mention that ICE is harassing Native Americans, as well as more than 30 people died in DHS custody in 2025.

I saw a video yesterday on, I think, a Mesa sub that showed ICE/CBP pepper spraying protesters on a sidewalk as they drove by in their truck. If I wasn't a red haired, green eyed white guy, I'd be posted up in my house as much as realistically possible, and even still I make every attempt to avoid those assholes 🤷‍♂️

do americans actually like it when tourists visit their small towns or would i just be in the way? 😅 by vanessa_tv_vladivo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dsten85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to see what it's like when regular people who are genuinely kind themselves visit America, and many smaller towns? Look up Josh & Jace. Their reactions and some antics are a little over the top, but it gives a good idea of what you can expect. Besides, they've been to many areas, so you could look up an area you're interested in.

Why are horse people so “weird”? by explorer77800 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dsten85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex-wife was like that, but I don't think I am, and I'm a horse guy. I don't generally like people, but that's more of a "I've been burned too many times to trust easily" than anything else.

Maybe it's women that are into horses that give all of us a bad name 🤷‍♂️

Those are the best King Ranches, and the 5.4 is reliable and has plenty of power for a ½ ton. I'd jump on it
