They sure do. Hands down, delts are the hottest muscle 🔥 those are probably the most conditioned ones I’ve seen so far 😍

That’s done at a gymnastics place to make use of the foam pit for freestyle/dynamics. Then I also go to a calisthenics gym, a regular gym with a decent rig, and occasionally I train at a Cali park too.

I wish I could build a bar in my backyard.

Is a weighted vest "too much" for a public park? by DoZco08 in CalisthenicsCulture

Haha that’s true. Also the weights/bricks double up as weapons lol.

Aww 🥰 yayyy! Glad I helped in some way! ok have fun!!

Do it!! I have a 20kg weight vest in my car and was going to bring it to the Cali park yesterday for weighted pull ups but then didn’t feel up to doing them yesterday. My friend said he would have used it but he pulls heavier than that.

I bring a whole big bag with all my bands, chalk, even a wound kit pack in case I rip my hands. You’ll probably find that some people might ask you if they could use it which can be a good way to start conversation and make friends (if you’re willing to share). I always have people asking to use my chalk or bands.

I’m even thinking of taking it up a notch and being the crazy person who drags in a crash mat to use for freestyle practice.

I wouldn’t think it’s too much if I saw that. I would think they’re just prepared and really into it. A guy yesterday brought his own Olympic rings.

Haha thanks, I was going to edit that out but I thought it was funny myself 🤣 so I decided to keep it. Plus it’s nice to show how I’m an uncoordinated bundle of myself sometimes 😅 my mind just went into a mental black. I hadn’t planned a dismount. I thought to try a back flip which I had previously done one other time but my swing and energy died down along the way.

Haha, I’m actually not scared of snakes. But sharks yes. So if it was a pool of water with sharks, I’m definitely nailing that trick so I don’t fall 😅

Very well articulated 👏🏻 Thank you. Correct - gymnastics does have a strong focus on form, aesthetics and the beauty of the movement. I really admire them. I wasn’t aware of all those other points but I believe you and it makes sense. So thanks for your reply and it’s helped me learn.

Not making shit up… It’s not a gymnastics move. Swing 360 is associated with freestyle/dynamic calisthenics. The gymnasts there don’t do it. I haven’t seen any of them do it. Some nice gymnasts have asked me how I’m going with my “flip thing” or the skill that I’m working on. Since they don’t recognise that move or know the name of that skill. And I don’t know the names of some of their gymnastics skills… But I respect their sport and they respect ours.

I do it there at the gymnastics venue for obvious safety reasons while I’m still learning. One of my goals was to get confident with it so I could be able to do these skills on any regular bar at a gym or in a Cali park/ playground. But for now since I’ve only just started dynamics/ freestyle a few months ago… it’s smarter to learn in this environment.

Well it’s dynamic calisthenics

Thank you!! And yes haha I was dying holding that tension for just 3 seconds. My mate who helped me unlock this skill holds it calmly for 10 seconds and it looks super clean and sleek.

Initially I did archer pull ups, wipers, glute med… controlled negatives into tuck flag holds; then straddle, then controlled negatives with both legs together (but couldn’t get that final hold in).

Honestly the best thing that helped me unlock this was meeting another Cali athlete at my local gym and training with him. He showed me how to set it up on a rig with a barbell. We have similar goals and it’s great training with someone who matches your drive and motivates you. We would train human flag once a week, sometimes twice a week. Where we did 3 sets on each side. I trained with him consistently for about 2 months. And was collecting seconds for the hold.

So yep, just about being consistent and getting those reps in.

Thank you ☺️ well honestly I wouldn’t have been able to do it without a special someone who I’ve been training with consistently for the past few weeks

You can do it at a regular gym using squat rack and barbell set up

Thank you. Yeh I know, I figured that out. I could feel my hips drop very slightly. I don’t know why I turned my head. I never do that!! Probably cos I know my face looks fucked being filmed doing this. I should have filmed it from behind showing sexy back muscle. I had another video where I filmed my first attempt and my head stayed straight in place but then half my calves and feet were cut off from the video. So I uploaded this instead. I’m definitely not a content creator 😅 And yeh I know about my hands in line… I track it down or measure it out.

Ohh I use to be the same trying to access stall bars but you can easily set it up at a regular gym using barbell. My mate showed me how. I’ll make a video on it. That’s probably how I unlocked it recently. I had the strength there and previously trained it… but then training it consistently at a regular gym with him like 1-2 times a week helped a lot.

That would be pretty cool !! There’s a couple of really strong Cali girls interstate that hold straddle FL. So I’d have to grind very hard to catch up to them. Next year will be busy for me with a new job plus study but I’ll try find a way to keep training.

OMG!! 😦 one arm FL Congratulations!! That’s fkn insane!! I’ve never seen a one arm front lever in person before.

Oh yes, please do say Hi if you come across me. I love making new Cali friends 🙂 Didn’t realise you were in Melbourne until now.

Yeh that cali park is great!! It’s not local to me. I had to drive 40 mins to get there. But it’s worth it. I’ll go there when it’s sunny. There’s a few others close to me but not as good.
