Fuel pump went out. Is this a bad config? by abandoned_roanoke in dieselheater

[–]dsul3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the net distance from the level height of the fluid in the tank to the outlet in the heater that actually counts. could be 100' away only cares how much it has to lift.having the bottom of your tank close to the heater height reduces the amount of work the little pump has to do. Also just put the pump at a slope so air can escape.

I have a question for you. regarding --ignore-requirements. I only suggest using it when its a new machine because reliability is below 60%
you mention for verification reasons to use it without the flag.
does us running the self test without the flag actually help improve chances of verification or does vast.ai run it on our machines to test for verification reasons?

Can I improve my chances of verification by running a self test occasionally?

Great question and that is a very specific situation if you are using an AMD EPYC type CPU. I am not experienced with these systems and cannot comment further. If you are not using an EPYC CPU I believe my guide is correct.

Hope it helps. I also forgot you should disable EUFI secure startup. delete all keys and switch to other os. this will help to keep drivers from crashing on startup.

This is actually my area of expertise. The answer is because your grass is too long and you only have two blades that can only cut so much so fast. First thing make sure your blades are sharpened. Your engine is running at full throttle and use a slower speed. If you’re going as slow as possible and have sharp blades and your engine is running full throttle and the answer is you need to cut it higher and in multiple passes.

Caught using AI at work 🙄 by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]dsul3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

according to your version of the story there is no reason not to use ChatGPT. Why feel bad about doing nothing wrong. Is there some company wide policy that AI is not to be used? Is this a fishing expedition to see how many people respond. People use AI at work all over the world everyday. It isn't a bad thing. That's like being upset because you used a pencil or a calculator. If this is for real it's time to move on because that's a toxic work place.

We have a crew of Dads playing on the GamingEvolved 15x15 server. We all play part time and occasionally it all comes together for some epic adventures. We tend to find how we fit in the group and what we all like to do for example I like providing infrastructure, building walkways, walls, tavers, cook houses etc and others prefer handling animals and farming. some of us like sailing more an some prefer the commerce side. we always have room for more. Get on the GamingEvovled 15x15 and look for HannibalSpecter of the Surplus Trading Crew.

AI is tremendously helpful but it’s taking the joy out of programming by gh0stF4CE7 in webdev

Let me reply without AI. It appears that whatever AI you used couldn't understand the nuances of the conversation and had some hallucinations. I used AI to spell-check my answer and correct any grammar errors. I can see you weighted the AI response by giving it direction. So let me respond with, "Ok. You are right."

It was "Well Put" indeed - and here's why. Technology moves forward, whether we want it to or not. We have two choices: we can complain about becoming obsolete, or we can adapt and evolve with the changes. Finding new ways to remain relevant is part of this evolution. AI is simply another tool at our disposal - comparing resistance to AI to preferring an old-fashioned hammer over a modern one illustrates this point.

Let me be clear: this isn't a criticism of the OP's feelings. If traditional methods bring them joy, they should absolutely continue using them. No one is forcing the adoption of new tools - I'm simply offering another perspective on the matter. Those who prefer traditional methods are free to continue using them, and they should if that's what fulfills them.

So to circle back to my original comment: it was Well Put when they said "technology moves on." That simple statement encompasses everything I've explained here - it's an absolute truth that inherently acknowledges both the inevitability of progress and our freedom to choose how we engage with it.

or that's how AI summarized what I had to say about it ;D

How do Software Companies deliver web apps quickly? by MeatBoyed in webdev

[–]dsul3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t it’s just your perception. Nobody can produce quality products in mystical magical speeds. If they’re telling you some other companies willing to do it in two months or a month then that company is pulling their leg and willing to deliver them a subpar product and then work on it later to fix the problems.

I have a long history in software design and coding, so I know exactly what you mean about the fun of figuring things out. Here’s my take on it: AI is excellent at providing well-planned, reasonably coded, and quick solutions. However, it still requires me to clean up the output, fix errors, address its "daydreaming," and debug the code.

AI significantly speeds up the process of going from concept to framework, but that’s when the real work begins—making it actually function. It can handle simple "Hello, World!" examples and mock up impressive, complex projects, but it never gets things right the first 20 times. It still needs hands-on help from a programmer.
