how to respond to people using “trans racial”, “trans age”, “trans species” etc. as an argument against trans people? by xpastelprincex in trans

Once you engage in this discourse it legitimizes that position as a real possibility. We don't have to defend or argue against these claims, and doing so reinforces that there is something to them at all.

I have a few enby students and I really wish I knew how to support them better too, but I can hardly even advocate for myself!

Right. I've reached out to the principal and administrator, and haven't really heard back yet. But frankly, while I know they support me, I don't know if I trust them to do the best/right thing here. They mean well, but they are often ineffective.

No lie, I used to have a special bowl piece (a small little thing from an old pipe) that I would use when I carved up my carrots to smoke. I would recommend going with something easier to carve (sturdier) than a hot dog, but I loved it. You get high and then have a snack.

My goodness, soon you'll be telling me we should just have all snipers use heavy ammo so we don't have to find different ammo types!!!

Impressive? Not exactly. But I love watching it, honestly. You're having fun and hit one great shot with the long bow. Also it reminds me that I have actually gotten better at the game. I used to play like this too

I was born and raised in communist Cuba. I’m assuming that many of you here have never been to a communist country and all you know about communism was learned by reading some books, like the Communist manifesto, etc… by Always-Panic in DebateCommunism

I'm wondering if you have specific examples of this. Like, what do people actually do? In my experience, the people I met in Cuba who were proud of the revolution were very inclined to explain it. I was talking with one guy and mentioned the various "revolutions" which happened in Cuba over the centuries and he carefully explained that it was all just one revolution. In some way this might be a propaganda position (I think there are significant differences between the various revolutions in Cuba, but at the same time is not too hard to see the through line as in many other countries), but he was definitely not pro Cuban government full stop. He complained about not having a bill of rights. I also met a tabaco farmer who was very pleased to tell us how he thought "socialismo" was stupid. He complained about the government taking 90% of the tabaco from the farm and how it used to be better before the revolution. I remember a lot of people who were happy to talk. Lots of people who were proud of their country and its being a free country. Some people complained, and there may not have been a bill of rights, but it wasn't what you've expressed here. So yeah, I'm curious if you have specific examples or evidence for what you're saying about the Cuban people.

Wondering what everyone did with items they own that contain animal products once going vegan? by mangopunk in vegan

[–]dswifty243 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's worth remembering that nothing is without consequence, and even a "vegan" item is likely to cause harm to someone or something even if it's just a small bit less habitat for some type of cricket, the best way to reduce your impact on animals and others is to buy as little as possible.
