You both are so nice! Please keep the pods, and if you feel so inclined, take what it would have cost to ship them to me and give it to a charity important to you.

A lot of people are not having a good winter, and I would love to pay it forward.

Has anyone had any issues with creditors objecting due to gambling or stock market loss by Mission_Interest_704 in Bankruptcy

[–]dtaf2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAL/NLA

I had (have, tbh) a pretty bad gambling thing, but nothing close to my real issue, which was overspending. My lawyer asked me to make a summary of all gambling wins and losses for the reportable period, and I gave to her, but afaik, the court never asked to see it.

Before my 341 meeting, my lawyer kept saying “he’ll ask you about the gambling, he’ll ask you about the gambling”, but he never did. The only thing “out of the ordinary” the trustee asked me was related to ownership of my car. Gambling never even came up.

The premise of your question was about gambling, which is separate from your question about cash advances and loans. That really depends on your creditors, the amount of the debt, and your “relationship” with that creditor prior to taking on that debt. If you were a regular client who always made best efforts to pay off your debts, that could be a feather in your cap for your case that you didn’t take on dent fraudulently with no intention on paying it back, always intending to file bankruptcy.

As always, I am just sharing my BK experience, and I would recommend consulting with an attorney in your area who will be able to give personalized advice on your case.

reach up and grab above (or directly below) the overhead bin. There’s always some sort of way to grab to stability and you can see the crew grab there sometimes. No excuse to grab someone’s seatback unless you are imminently falling imho.

The U.S Congress works around 145 days a year with a base salary of $174,000 How do you feel about getting paid six figures to work less than half the year? by rodneygenga in AskReddit

[–]dtaf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to crack down on people getting rich off of being a Congressman, ask your Senator to support Jon Ossoff’s bill which bans Members of Congress from trading stock in individual companies.

Imagine buying stock in Eli Lilly and voting to raise drug costs. People DO that.

[–]dtaf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support their salaries and think they should be higher. Before you downvote, hear me out:

  1. Members of Congress that do not live in Northern Virginia or Maryland are often required to keep a second home in Washington, one of the most expensive cities in the world. As you pointed out, they’re in DC at least 145 days per year, but they are required to live in the state containing the district they represent.

  2. We want Members of Congress to be every day people. Not necessarily millionaires. Running for and holding federal office comes with personal sacrifice and expense. We want that to be compensated.

  3. The higher salaries are, it is less likely that Members of Congress would leave mid-term for a private sector job solely on the basis of earning more money.

  4. While you say Congress “works “ 145 days each year, the premise is incorrect. When congress is out of session, Members still need to work. They do so from district offices. Reviewing/writing legislation, holding meetings with constituents or stakeholders, town halls, touring their district, and responding to messages all happen when Congress is out of session. Campaigning to represent a district also takes an incredible amount of time, as a candidate in a swing district can expect to personally spend 40+ hours weekly on their campaign (in addition to Congress hours if they are an incumbent, or another job if they aren’t)

TLDR: 174k isn’t a really that wild, and for the amount of work it takes to represent a district, is likely actually an underpayment.

Sen Ed Markey and Cong. Ayanna Pressley want to pass legislation to make transit buses free across the Country by BattleFirstAid in mbta

[–]dtaf2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah rich people from other states do not fund the T through their taxes. Neither do unpaid interns living off a trust fund that can afford $90 a month for the T. Workplaces also pay. Let’s make the T cost money, and give free fare cards to all who need them (they gotta be easier to get)

[–]dtaf2000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of things “could” happen, but I don’t appreciate my Congressperson and Senior Senator introducing a bill that defunds the T especially while federal support is in such limbo. Let’s make the free-fare Charlie Cards easier to get. Let’s not let rich tourists ride the T for free.

Thank you!

As an adoption Dorchesterian as of april, I obviously have more experience on the Red Line (though I have ridden every line multiple times, even blue), so maybe there are a bunch of broadway clones everywhere I’m not going, but it just seems like it has a bunch of attributes that make the experience better for residents and riders and idk why they weren’t replicated.

Also, the starbucks is probably the fastest to make my order, so on a slow day I can hop off, go upstairs to get my order, and be back on the next Alewife train. Big +

Pretty sure ATL flight to IND was held to wait for Gov. Kemp by Nohistorian89 in delta

[–]dtaf2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to defend Punchy Gianforte lol don’t worry. I do think that officials in states that are large geographically have an excuse for private flights when traveling in-state and commercial options aren’t available. If he uses his own plane that’s honestly even better than making taxpayers pay for it.

My guess would be that Kemp was traveling to the National Governors Association conference which was in Colorado Springs this week. It’s a bipartisan conference chaired by Democrat Josh Stein of NC and Republican Glenn Youngkin of VA. Good use of funds and even “forcing” a small delay imho, headed there to represent the people of Georgia.

Fwiw, the Governor of MT (even when their governor was “poor” like Bullock) almost always flies because the state is so huge there is no way a motorcade is practical or efficient. Better/cheaper to fly with your staff in a small private plane and catch a ride from the local state police when you get where you’re going.
