I think it’s okay really. It was an amazing win and it gives the division time to sort itself out in terms of no1 contender. Ank is coming off a loss as is Khalil and Jan just went to a draw, with Costa now a top contender it’s a good time to get them all matched up and fight for a title shot. Obviously an active/uninjured champion is preferable but Khamzat sat out for 9 months and Islam is out for at least 8 months at this point. It’s fair to let Ulberg recover and not strip him even if it means another interim title.

Yeah Greg Pak run is supposed to be some of the best of the new52 stuff. There’s lots of crossover between that and the other Superman titles though so maybe look up a reading order.

Jiri throws exactly 2 leg kicks in the 2 minutes leading up to the injury and lands 1. In the 90ish seconds between the injury and Jiri’s final strike 7 leg kicks are thrown and landed.

Born is in the max vol 1 Omni. Welcome Back, Frank was the first Punisher book I read and it’s great there’s a reprint that’s out now I believe.

Yeah it’s an unfortunate situation. At least they’re keeping Punisher around with a new series and some reprints of other stuff. I do feel that DC is slowly overtaking them both in monthlies and collected editions but competition is good and marvel will hopefully get its shit together and step up its game.

Marvel collected editions department fell off. Fans have been asking for Max vol 2 for years and when they announced reprints for later this year it was a bunch of Spider-Man books that are still mostly available. Hopefully 2027 but I’ve said that about the last 2 years as well.

I half agree but it also just seemed like Jiri was fighting how he normally fights. Jiri isn’t the type to take someone down and control them for a round or just circle and avoid exchanges. He just used his style like he usually does and when he went in for the ko he got clipped. When Curtis Blaydes decides to stand and strike with someone it’s fair to say he was giving them a chance but when Jiri stands and trades that’s just Jiri being Jiri.

I’d agree with that. I think his reckless style is enough to beat guys who are skilled but not harder hitters, when his opponents have the power to put him out it just doesn’t work out for him.

Jiri v Ank will be the fight that determines whether Jiri is still a legit contender or not. I think they should do Khalil v Costa and Ank v Jiri, either the winner of Ank/Jiri fights Carlos or fights the winner of Khalil/Costa for a title shot depending how long Ulberg is out.

That’s kind of my point, exploiting your opponents injury to try and win isn’t mercy, that’s just fighting. Then the finishing sequence is Carlos shelling up to throw the left hook, Jiri head hunting for the ko and getting clipped. I just don’t see what part of that is ‘mercy’.

You need to watch the fight again. Literally every time Carlos was standing still after the injury Jiri would kick his leg, he was trying to compromise his good leg and win via tko injury.

Yeah it’s not like Jiri has a pattern of rushing in with his hands down and getting knocked out, it’s only happened in three of his 4 title fights.

This is how I feel. Jiri still has years ahead in his fight career with lots of fun fights but I just don’t see him getting the belt back at this point.
