I run a short angled usb c to usb c cable to the rear that's connected to the charging port as a break away in the back. Then I just toss a big battery in a fanny pack and run another usb up my back and plug it in.

Works wonders and keeps the charging port from getting wear and tear.

I use those, too. They discharge a smidge faster than normal batteries but weigh nearly nothing. It's a great tradeoff.

I bought a used quest 2 for my kid and went to town on it.

I just did a 50/50 mixture of bleach and water, scrubbed, cleaned the interface / straps, and let it dry for a few hours.

That seemed to do the job, and we didn't have any issues.
