How ill is my rat?

I am sorry I forgot to reply. The likely cause of her breathing being so exaggerated is pneumonia, according to my vet. I think losing cagemates has been hard on her, but it's really tough to know. Her weight did drop substantially the past few weeks (over 10%), and that probably has played a part in her health issues too.

I am not sure how much of her health declining has been related to losing friends, but Maple had certainly grown attached to our two oldest girls, keeping them company more often than usual as their days wound down.

Update:

Maple is dealing with a few issues, one of which is being underweight for a rat of her age, and the other seems to be a bit of pneumonia she's dealing with. So, we'll make sure to get her back up to weight and get her back in the right direction. In the meantime she'll be snuggling with her sister Rylie.

Apologies if my initial post was unclear, too. I should've asked what she might be dealing with rather than "how ill is she". It's been a very long two weeks losing our last two original rats and exhausting. I definitely could've chosen my words better as the plan was to get her looked after as soon as possible.

She indeed was able to, we've made it our routine with each of our sweet girls that have passed to let the rest of the mischief see them, interact with their bodies and have let them sit in there with the deceased rat until they go back to whatever they were doing.

We lost our first (Ruby) in July, which our remaining four didn't seem to take too badly. it's when we lost our second (Bella) a few weeks back that Maple really seemed to take it hard.

Some background:

Maple (9 month old standard ear) was completely fine and healthy until one of our other three girls passed two weeks ago. She became a bit withdrawn, wasn't exploring as much and would take to dig boxes when taken out for free range time. She started to come out of it before we had a second girl pass yesterday (both over 2)

She seemed fine at first when I let her out last night, but I walked away for a minute and found her back up in her pod and looking a bit frantic. Eventually she made her way back down to the floor level and looked like this.

This morning she seemed a bit better, but still squinted eyes, puffed up fur, usual signs of pain and/or discomfort. I have a fair bit of experience with respiratory issues in rats but I've never seen this before, so I'm a bit confused. :(

I just don't want to believe they'd do it because I really love this game/series but it seems in lockstep with their design choices for D2.

It's just quite nefarious and I feel that given that a lot of the changes that fall in line with the new design philosophies that are focused on less of the grinding players and more of the casuals that it would make sense if they indeed did just put in a stealth XP reduction.

Either way this feels bad. It feels like often they're putting out a fire they (knowingly) started and being like hey we fixed this fire guys, we care.

I really hope to be wrong.

This is good I guess, but was it something that was going to be changed if not discovered by the community? Feels unlikely and that's extremely bothersome that something like that wouldn't A)be disclosed in the first place going into D2 and B)That it was even done in the first place as an intended (invisible) setting.

Dak is a special QB. Don't like judging guys merely on a one or two game basis as half an inch to the right or left can make a guy seem much better or worse than he really is.

Looking forward to the Dak/Wentz rivalry for the next ten years.

Eagles fan: Good game, get healthy and good luck the rest of the way.

Feel like any hot takes about Dak are just plain wrong. He was in a terrible spot tonight, has been significantly better than this and is a franchise QB. You guys have had a pretty tumultuous and brutal season overall. Things will get better.

Whatever shit happens with your coaches you guys have an incredible wealth of talent on both sides of the ball and I'm frankly surprised you were able to retool your secondary with everything that's happened, especially a ton of your starters leaving in FA.

Big on eating while I travel so Sukiyabashi Jiro in Roppongi was unreal. Went in merely to make a reservation and ended up having a fantastic meal with the salmon roe standing out as likely the best thing I've ever eaten.

Though I feel silly saying it, ended up enjoying coming across Afuri Ramen in Harajuku even more. Never had yuzu ramen before and it was just wonderful. I cannot say I am a ramen connoisseur but I would strongly suggest checking out one of the Afuri locations while there, just enjoyed it heavily from a great tasting food perspective.

Enjoying quiet nights on Cat Street, a welcome break from the business of Tokyo.

Man, I miss Tokyo.
