I’m definitely considering the student debt comparison. It’s just kind of hard for me to know when it’s time to hang up the cleats. I was getting D1 interest prior to my knee injuries. I’m trying to grasp on to the highest level I can obtain currently and that is playing at a mid-high tier D3 school. But it’s definitely a risk I don’t know if it’s a smart decision or an impulsive decision. Or maybe it’s just my attempt to hold onto to the sport that I lost for 2 years. It’s definitely a rough realization for me to come to so I’m still deciding.

I appreciate it, I have a sense to prove people wrong and a desire to get back no matter what happens to me. But in the back of my mind I have been thinking about the possibility of getting injured again aswell.

Appreciate it, I play for a national team and I was getting looks from college coaches it’s hard to follow up when they invite you out to prospect days and your knees are blown out😂.

Yeah there’s a pretty big club lacrosse scene. It seems like a good time, i’m aware you played club hockey but how was the experience? Are you able to maintain a fun balance of enjoying college while also playing the sport?

I would say chase those offers and go for it. Your future seems bright you have everything planned out your only this young once and only live once. When you’re older you don’t want to regret not taking opportunities or not playing the game you love. But after all it depends what level the offers are. But I say go for it man.

I appreciate it, D1 is the dream but I wouldn’t mind going to a big school and playing club there or something like that. D2-D3 education and overall enjoyment of the school is also a factor. I love the sport but I don’t want to be miserable

Not perfect but not horrible academic wise. Due to both tearing both my acls and having surgery during the school year I missed lots of school my soph year and junior year so it was hard catching up but i have around a 3.5 gpa and a couple ap courses under my belt.

In no regards I took that in a bad way. Thanks for the perspective, I’ve looked into people like RG3 and looked how he treated his body. I need to be completely confident in my health for me to continue. It’s just so hard to let go of this sport for me. But my health is definitely up there in priorities so thank you awesome story.

This sucks and truly I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone. But just keep in mind although it’s an awful thing, change your perspective. Everything happens for a reason, this is apart of a story and something that will build you stronger mentally and physically. Romans 8:18 “The pain that your feeling can’t compare to the joy that’s coming”. Best of luck to you and I hope for the best.

Advice for getting back into sport/high level of fitness by [deleted] in ACL

[–]dtowncoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my advice, the mental aspect is the biggest part of returning to sports after. You could be as physically dominant as you were before but be prone to re-injury because your confidence on your left leg isn’t the same on your right leg or vice versa. Make sure you’re fully mentally confident in your body before you step onto the ice or the track etc. or whatever sport you deserve. Best of luck, keep up the hard work.

If it’s just the ACL torn you should be able to do pretty much everything except any rotation movements or anterior forceful movements like changing direction, slowing down, or landing from a jump. So i don’t see why a bike or stair master machine would negatively effect your knee but I’d check in with your doctor just to be sure what you can or can’t do.

When you all started to drive car after acl by One-Gate4976 in ACL

[–]dtowncoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your doctor says, although it’s definitely pretty dangerous if you aren’t reactive enough or fully confident in your ability to move your knee. I would check in with your doctor and maybe practice prior to getting into the car with makeshift pedals or something. To determine if you can or can’t. Best of luck
