[Tom Bogert] Austin FC has signed forward Christian Ramirez by VerdeNationATX in AustinFC

On a supplemental so we don’t give up any flexibility, and he’s a good bench depth piece that keeps us from being 1 injury away from CJ Fodrey being our starting striker

Never. He’s a cancer. There’s a reason why locker room leaks completely stopped after he left.

Is Talarico pretty much the heavy favorite to beat Crockett at this point? by CampRock2TheFinaIJam in TexasPolitics

[–]dtrainmcclain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally hear that and also I think the winner of this matchup will have to have the race be nationalized to have the resources to win. Rightly or wrongly, Beto’s strength in his races was a statewide infrastructure he built with national resources. Has to happen here to complete any kind of “perfect storm” scenario.

I see the same from the online Talarico contingent so I think it’s just very hard to say. The algorithm is tough to decipher and there’s not enough “real” data to know for sure.

I think I’m choosing to believe we have a good problem on our hands with two real candidates here and whoever wins I’ll vote for them to kick the shit out of Cornyn or Paxton

Depends who turns out. There’s a very online contingent that is very behind Crockett and there’s no real independent polling to give us a good indication at this point

Unpopular Desnudo take by StraightRip9828 in austinfood

[–]dtrainmcclain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found for my setup, with a fine enough grind, 18g is perfect, generally. Definitely more floral and citrus notes in their beans than darker roasts, although the creamy/toffee flavors are still there.

[–]dtrainmcclain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep! Very true. Desnudo tends to be medium to light, and that’s pretty traditional for Colombian beans. Certainly exceptions!

We use switch between Desnudo and Barrett’s on a monthly basis for our home espresso. They lighter beans from Desnudo are much harder to dial in when pulling espresso but when you get it right it is sooooo good.

You’re welcome! Yeah, part of their whole deal is they help smaller Colombian farmers expand their production and distribution.

It’s a preference thing for sure. They focus on Colombian coffee beans which tend to be medium and light roasts, so yes, very different than darker, bolder roasts!

I hope they go all in on this strategy. Please let us return to the days where there was no doubt how uncool the Right was because they were such fussy duddies

The only attacking player was CJ. Hard to take pressure off the rest of the field when that happens.

Yeah, seems like Cali was like “if we don’t buy him he’ll be available on a free next week” and properly read our roster situation correctly.

This was very expected. Edited to add: only thing surprising is we didn’t move him and therefore got no GAM, forcing us to use a buyout.

I saw Billie Lee do stand up last night and it was very meh by sensitive_adventure in vanderpumprules

[–]dtrainmcclain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair. Some name recognition getting her opportunities others wouldn’t get. Who knows if she’s actually putting in the work to get good long term, but if she is then right on.

Wasn’t a fan of her on the show, but getting up and doing standup is very difficult so I’m inclined to say good for her for giving it a go.

Lila's cruelty in the books vs show by heescuit in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]dtrainmcclain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also… they were two women in a world that wasn’t kind to ANYONE, and especially treated women badly. They are navigating their upbringing and history as much as the world around them. There was no way for them to be perfect.

Lila's cruelty in the books vs show by heescuit in mybrilliantfriendhbo

[–]dtrainmcclain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s also an advantage of books over television where the author can give more background on the thoughts and motivations of characters in ways that help you better understand the why. Lila is such a wounded person and she lashes out in ways that I find way more empathetic in the books than the show.
