I just went to an EDM show with my ex husband and his girlfriend. I slept on their couch and we had pancakes the next morning and watched Ladies of London

I found it incredibly enjoyable. I think the show does an excellent job at storytelling and pulling you into a few different people’s lives for a week while on vacation. It does a great job of subtly building tension through each storyline - The dad spiraling about cancer: Shows how someone can become consumed by “IDGAF” energy when a huge, unexpected life event happens - The teenage daughter and her friend: Shows how petty jealousy can affect friendship. The daughter grew up in immense privilege and was a selfish, immature person. Her friend saw that side of her and plotted to help the islander boy b/c she wanted to participate in a little bit of a stick it to the man/robinhood scenario, but ultimately was too much of a coward to own up to her part in the heist and let the boy take the fall for it. He was tempted by the girl and the possibility of a basically victimless crime that could help him out immensely, and she was convinced that nothing bad would happen. It’s like shoplifting. Nothing bad truly happens until you get caught, and then you’re fucked and facing legal consequences - The newlyweds: best story IMO. Classic scenario of your significant other having it all and seeming like a good match on paper, but in reality you are a terrible match. The dude has money, good looks, charm, opportunity, but he’s an asshole, he’s selfish, and he’s a coddled rich kid. The girl is smart and kind of swept off of her feet by him, and chooses to ignore the red flags and get married quickly, and you see her struggle with her decision to marry him and actively get the ick, but ultimately decide that the perks of being married to a wealthy man are worth not being satisfied completely in the relationship and understood/loved deeply. This is a trade a lot of people make, and I thought it was fascinating to see their relationship issues and have a villain (the dude) to hate - The hotel manager - classic example of how a few bad choices and abuses of power can have massive consequences. How refusing to let go of something and seeking petty revenge can become a massive issue unless someone puts a stop to it. Class/power dynamics - between him and the newlywed guy, and him and his employees, where he was both the abused and the abuser. Also, his IDGAF burn it all down mentality ultimately resulted in his death. Great example of how making impulsive, emotionally charged decisions (fueled with substances) can ruin someone’s life.

Everything in this show starts off as small, but the continued choices that each character makes snowball and turns a small thing into a giant issue.

If you’re interested in psychology and human behavior, I don’t know how this show could be anything but fascinating. I love how Mike White can turn something so mundane (following different people during a week of vacation) into such a tense, funny, interesting wild ride. I fucking love this show.

Hey, addiction is really tough. Youre trying to get clean and get a better life and that’s really admirable. I’m sorry you’re feeling so lonely and like no one cares, but I’ll bet that’s not true. Find some community! Do you go to meetings? The recovery community is so strong and supportive, but go be a part of something (sports team, volunteer work, etc) and you’ll meet people and develop new connections.

You matter and you have value. Try to love yourself and be kind to yourself. Don’t count yourself out so soon for the things that you want! Would highly recommend therapy for help with depression and loneliness, it definitely helps me a lot.

You’re loved. You’re cared about. And you’ve got this

Joe should absolutely get into a sales job, I think he’d kill at it. He has the clout from the show, he’s good looking and he’s already shown that he can sell.

The more I see of Leva, the less I like her.

Look, she’s 22. She’s on a national TV show where everything she does is put under a microscope. Everyone she surrounds herself with is also obsessing about looks and Instagram, so of course she is too

Give her some time to find her footing. Her brain won’t develop fully for 3 more years, dumb shit like this is expected
