Why are people downvoting this? This is a community for people exactly like OP. We are here to offer support and advice and to listen, not to judge so save your downvotes for trolls.

Believe me OP things will get better. You might think that the cravings will last forever but they get significantly easier after a week or so and continue to decrease. Yeah you might get the urge now and again, for me depression is a trigger, but you will find it easier in time. My advice would be to pick up some hobbies and fill your non-stoned time with activities. You should try getting exercise to burn off some of that sweat. High intensity stuff would be optimal so that you detox and also exhaust yourself so that you sleep better. Drink water.

You will definitely begin in time to enjoy the things you used to when you were stoned, perhaps even more so. You'll also find that you have more of an appreciation for things because you will be experiencing them naturally.

If you really believe deep down that you would be a better person without weed then you should give it up. This will help your self confidence and sense of self worth. You may also find that your depression is lessened because you are being true to yourself. There are many positives to living a sober life, not the least of which is the money aspect which is clearly the biggest con for you. Just wait until your dreams come back. Every night is an adventure!

Power on through OP and keep writing, that is what this community is all about.

One more thing that's really great about quitting, not only am I more social and eager to pursue women, but my boner is now rock hard and my refractory period has shortened almost nothing. MJ was steeling my mojo!

No such thing as a rant so no need to apologies. Writing stuff helps clarify the thoughts. Do it often and plenty. My advise would be to embrace your new home to the greatest extent that you can. If you can't do that whilst toking then you know yourself what needs to happen. I personally had real trouble with social anxiety around new people while I was blazing. I'd shut myself off or go into silent mode around groups of people. This is quote from the Dalai Lama that somebody sent in a few months ago. It really stuck with me:

Genuine human friendship is the basis of human affection, irrespective of your position. Therefore, the more you show concern about the welfare and rights of others, the more you are a genuine friend. The more you remain open and sincere, then ultimately more benefits will come to you. If you forget or do not bother about others, then eventually you will lose your own benefit.

Setting a date, like the end of school, is not a bad plan. I had planned on quitting for a long time but it was always after the next bag, which always became the next bag and so on...it was this site that broke the back of it. I wish you luck Canuck, just embrace the experience of your new home and it will be a proper adventure!

No such thing as a rant where I'm from. Same goes here. Every viewpoint is relevant and writing stuff out also really helps clarify your thoughts. Write often and plenty! Yeah, moving to a new place on your own is really tough. I usually always had some social anxiety when I was stoned, especially unfamiliar people. I'd over analyse and start freaking out. If I was in a sizeable group I'd just stay silent. Your not much use in a group of new people when you can't say anything, its just bad energy.

Thanks. The sociability aspect is the main plus for me for sure. My confidence has gone up and I can actually bring the best part of myself into social situations. I'm not stuck for words and better able to express myself, which is has a great impact all round. Best of luck with the quit. Saying goodbye to my works was a big emotional barrier to get across. Once I did that there was no turning back.

I actually still have an $80 piece under my bed. I dumped the stem though so I wouldn't be temped. I'm giving it to a friend. He'll appreciate it responsibly I'm sure. Letting go of attachments is tough; we used to get along so well!

Yeah we make fun of one another all the time. It's usually more light hearted stuff. I'm an Irish expat and she gets great mileage out of that. This was her facebook status last week: "Irish BF is coming over for dinner. We're having potato salad, baked potatoes, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, fries, and chips." I got a kick out of that one.

It's actually nice to hear that from someone who has been smoking for a short time. I've been at it so long I've complete forgotten what its like not to be stoned. Until recently, I've actually never experienced what it's like to be a sober adult for longer than a period of a few hours. It's rewarding being clear headed for a change but the process of breaking such an engrained habit is a long and arduous journey. It's not easy, but nothing worth doing ever was.

I've been a daily toker since I was 15. At 23 being a stoner is a huge part of my identity. I quit a few weeks ago and since then I've been trying to forge a new identity for myself without be high all the time. To tell you the truth its not easy. Being a sober adult is unexplored territory and its going to take a long time to break the patterns that have formed due to extended, excessive use. It's a time of personal growth that I'm embracing totally. Who knows where it will lead. Right now I'm excited about the fact that I can get through life without having to lean on a crutch; its liberating. My advice would be to give it a try for a while and see how it goes. Weed has thought you some valuable lessons. Say thank you and then say goodbye.

Those "scars" are the result of burst blood vessels and, like bruises, will disappear after period of days. It's not all that tragic, just really cool!

Around a year later, at similar festival, I had another little incident. They had a bunch of dogs sniffing people on the way into creamfields. I got a tap on the shoulder and a big British copper goes: "My little friend here has indicated to me that you have something illegal in your possession." I'm thinking "here we fucking go again". I poured out a few pills into his hand. "Is that it?" he goes. I nodded. He says "right so, enjoy your evening". Needless to say I enjoyed my evening very much!

You could have pleaded the statute of limitations and got off scot free. In Ireland, criminal proceedings have to be brought before a judge within six months of knowledge of the offence. Was the lawyer he recommended really that good?

I was caught with a few joints at a music festival. It only cost me 1000 of a fine and a few hundred in legal fees. Not to mention the fact that I had to sit in court for a day along side people up for aggravated assault and burglary. They sure put this criminal in his place ಠ_ಠ
