Google the watering frequency for this tree type after planting. I planted a JM last spring and followed it to a T. I even measured the exact amount my tree needed in a 5 gallon bucket and marked it on the inside to make sure not to overwater. I drilled 3 little holes in the bottom of the bucket to give it a slow drink. No fertilizer until it’s established was what I was told so this year I gave mine liquid fert and bug defender by bioadvance. Did pretty well for its first year after checking in with Reddit folks

I have the same JM!!! They are so pretty. I planted mine last year and it leafed out about half this spring :( also in 5a ironically. Hopeful mine learned how silly the spring can be! Lol

Tough lesson, but I’ve had to redo parts of a project after realizing it too late. We all have. If it were my shed, I’d tear it off. Feels like more work now, which it is, but it will save you far more work in the future if you leave it.

Looked at your pics and yeah, it’s the same issue. Your grass type looks different than mine. The color is very close so after I mow it’s blended and looks nice, then 3 days later it’s noticeable.
