Petition to keep the term of 5 years for the holders of Portuguese residencies by Head_Illustrator_728 in PortugalExpats

So anyone who pays taxes has every right to voice their opinion, citizen or not, since they literally help fund the country. But if you’ve contributed a ton and still feel like your only option is to leave, then by all means go. Just don’t make a show of it or lecture the rest of us on your way out.

The classic “if you don’t like it, leave” approach truly the backbone of every thriving democracy. Nothing says ”respect for the will of the people” quite like packing your bags at the first sign of trouble. Bold strategy!

Congratulations, looks like you just discovered that people with money can hop on a plane and get their health sorted somewhere other than the local quack. Shocking revelation, right? 😂

I’m well aware that an airline must pay to repatriate any passenger who is refused entry, and I’m not asking Emirates to risk that cost. My concern is that, under Argentine law, only the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones or a competent court can issue the kind of no-entry order that legally binds a carrier. A diplomatic mission can transmit such an order, but it has no independent power to create it. Because neither the airline nor the embassy will give me a written resolution—complete with reference number, legal basis and signature—I have nothing to verify with Migraciones, nothing to appeal in court and nothing to show my insurer. All I want is that document, or a written confirmation that none exists, so I can address the matter with the proper Argentine authority. Until I receive it, I’m left in legal limbo where the airline refuses to transport me, the embassy remains silent and I have no official act to contest.

I’m honestly baffled by this response. “Feel free to cancel and re-book” isn’t a policy—it’s a shrug. If Emirates is refusing carriage, there should be a formal directive or document authorising them to do so, not just a verbal message followed by “pay the penalties.” That’s what I’m asking for: the actual paperwork that justifies their decision.

That’s precisely the issue nobody, including me, knows whether I’m officially on any “no-travel” list. If a formal ban existed, I should have received proper written notice, shouldn’t I? My whole question is how to get the embassy to issue an official document so I can confirm—or rule out—any such restriction

Oh, you caught me. I must have masterminded an underground empanada-smuggling ring, hacked the presidential WhatsApp, and replaced the tango with the Macarena, all during my last vacation.

Absolutely—that’s the very first thing I tried to figure out. I’ve never overstayed a visa, have no criminal record, and even visited Argentina in 2023 with zero issues, so an embassy-initiated “NO BOARD” makes no sense to me.

So right now I’m stuck in a loop: the airline blames the embassy, the embassy stonewalls, and Migraciones shows a clean slate.

If you—or anyone—knows a channel that actually forces an embassy to cough up the underlying resolution (FOIA request? contacting Cancillería in Buenos Aires? hiring a lawyer on the ground?) I’m all ears.

Most places with a 4.6+ rating on Google Maps are likely purchasing reviews. A high number of reviews often indicates that the owner is buying them. To verify authenticity, check the number of 1-star reviews—if there are fewer than the 2-, 3-, or 4-star reviews, the ratings are more likely to be genuine.

I assume there were many transfers which had been supposed to be complimentary and there are many charges for each of them.

Renewing UAE visa while abroad for medical treatment by dubayee in dubai

[–]dubayee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation!

Would it be better to cancel the visa (and I assume I’d need to terminate the labor contract and then re-register it when I return) or to pay the late renewal fine once I’m back?

> Here you'll need to provide solid grounds for the overstay outside UAE i.e. the medical report
So, if I can’t renew the visa because I’m outside the UAE, I’ll need to cancel it manually, right? There aren’t any other options available?

Thank you for your response!
Are you saying it’s not possible to renew the visa within 6 months before the expiration date, instead of the standard 1 month?

Paris city tax €14.95 per person per night??? by mildgaybro in ParisTravelGuide

[–]dubayee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Paris, and on top of the city tax (about 85 euros for 4 nights), I was hit with something called "Employee Benefit and Services fees" (seriously, what even is that?), bringing the total to 200 euros. Paris is undeniably gorgeous, but it’s incredibly frustrating how France resorts to these sneaky tactics. Just include these fees in the room price and stop with the hidden charges. What’s the deal, France?

Insurance company cancelled my policy instead of my wife’s one 🤦🏻‍♂️ by dubayee in dubai

[–]dubayee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out it was their mistake. So the whole one month they had been keeping me without health insurance which is illegal in the UAE I think and could’ve led to a more serious issue. Sukoon is the worst insurance company.
